Involvement in an active shooting situation is optional. I would try to defend others as well as myself, but unless confronted by the shooter or saw something that made me change my mind, I would retreat. Maybe if brave and safe, I might cause a diversion (firing a safe shot from a distance and cover with no one behind) in the shooter's direction.
MY CPL is not a commitment to protect and serve anyone besides myself and those I love. If people want to be safe they need to take responsibility for their own safety an get their own CPL
There is no "sworn duty to protect and serve". The SCOTUS has ruled police are under no obligation to stop a crime.

Cops today are really nothing more than crime scene investigators - by design. If it were otherwise they would be engaged in high crime areas not looking for people talking on cell phones in their cars.
