NEWARK, OH (WCMH) Denver Ham gripped his daughter Rileys shoulders tight in a protective hug outside Legend Elementary School in Newark.
I couldnt lose another child, Ham said, choking back tears.
Riley, 7, told her family she had a bad day at school on Wednesday. The second-grader said a substitute teacher who called himself Mr. S. threatened her class.
He doesnt deal with bad behavior and said if we act up or do anything that he didnt tell us, that he would cut our heads off and bury us, Riley said.
Denver Ham, who said his oldest daughter died in 2013 in a car accident on the way to school, said he was horrified by the comments.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

Whew, I first thought that “Newark” was the city in New Jersey. If so, that threat would have been met with an attack by the students on the “teach.”
I filled in, as a substitute, many years ago. I was firm and told the kids that their teacher had “left work for them to do which required class participation, let's get it done.” I never had any problems and the pay was $25.00 per day. (1970) I had to send a boy to the nurse one day because he and another boy wouldn't stop fighting in the locker room. (8th Grade). I had stopped the fight by popping their heads together. That stopped the fight but later one of the boys showed me a nice lump on his forehead. Later, the Phys Ed department head told me “never send a kid to the nurse, you should have used the ice packs in the coach's’ refrigerator.” Nothing came of it....today I would be in prison.

I’ve met substitute teachers that I wonder how they ever got haired, much less graduated from high school.
I cannot believe the low standards there are.
