Spain approves equal parental leave for fathers

Fathers will now be allowed the same parental leave as new mothers, under measures agreed by Spain’s parliament.

The Spanish congress has voted to extend paid paternity leave from 13 days to 16 weeks, equal to that awarded to women.

Until now, fathers were entitled to just 13 consecutive days off work with the arrival of a new member of the family, be it through birth, fostering or adoption, plus two days to be present at the birth itself. …

Not good. More anti business trend. Next, they will demand 2 year paternity leave.

Just another silly law against nature. In aboriginal societies the woman nurtures the infant while the man provides the supply stream. Been that why since before the dawn of civilization.

It’s more efficient for the man to work throughout his life. There’s no reason for him to stop except for vacations and it generally keeps him out of trouble.

Besides, work is empowering, a fact lost on too many males in Europe and the United States.
