She's made a career out of being crude, rude and socially unacceptable. That was the nature of her comedy, such as it was. She advocated all the leftist positions of the day, up to a point. Not sure when she went off the plantation, or if she was ever really firmly on it. Her roots are northeastern blue collar, maybe she's been being true to that all along.
