Money quote:

As for a potential backlash by some viewers angered at players not standing for the national anthem to protest of police brutality, the NFL said it sees no evidence to that being a factor in declining ratings: "In fact, our own data shows that the perception of the NFL and its players is actually up in 2016."

Roger Goodell doing his Baghdad Bob impersonation. But that is fine with me. I hope as ratings continue to decline the NFL owners will wake up and fire his self-righteous weasel ass.

NFL may be on the way out. It’s not like we can’t live without football.

There are none so blind as those who will not see.

Perhaps the fossils in the NFL & sports media conglomerate don’t know that very few teens and young adults watch television these days. Fewer still play football or other team sports. The future for NFL ratings will continue to decline, and shameful protests by America-hating multi-millionaire players doesn’t endear the League to their older audience.

It certainly is a confluence of events! Stupidity, arrogance, aloofness, smugness, and a “we are unsinkable” view of the landscape.

They’re wrong if my circle is any indication. I used to be a game addict, watching every Monday, Thursday and Sunday game I could. Now, I only watch one team, and no one on that team has ever taken a knee or insulted the flag - the NY Giants. My friends are the same way with their respective teams.

This is fine. If they cannot acknowledge the problem, they will never resolve it.

And this will be the end of them. May take time, but if they place so little interest into solving a problem like this, it will consume them.

Well it might have something to do with pro football games becoming unwatchable. Between the wannabe female reporters everywhere, the incessant commercial breaks, and the interminable “instant replay” breaks, who can stand more than 30 minutes of a game?

My late father was a true football fanatic who played in HS and in the AF, later coached HS and watched every game the television set could deliver to him. In his later years, he stopped watching the NFL because there was no "character" (as he termed it) left in the game at that level. Near the end of his life, he watched less college football for the same reason. Had he lived to see Kaepernick and Goodell enabling thug culture, I believe he'd have needed to get some new obscenities to shout at the television.

The decline in NFL viewership is simply great news for those of us on the Right.

I’ve had a major hate for Kaepernick ever since he took dependable Alex Smith’s job during the 49ers last NFC championship year.

Since then, we’ve seen a steady deterioration in K’s productivity. Blaine Gabbert beat him out of the starting job fair and square last year, but isn’t playing well this season. The 49ers have problems pretty much everywhere, however, and starting K. again is unlikely to provide much relief.

Still, all this attention-seeking foolishness from K. really caught me by surprise. You think these overpaid athletes would at least want to protect their income.

Back in the old days the premise of “team” really meant something. I knew with 90% certainty what my team’s starting line-up would be year after year.

These days it’s just money-chasing mercenary thugs. Meh....
