Friend of man gunned down near Millennium Park: 'I'm ready to boycott the city of Chicago'
Chicago Tribune ^ | September 28, 2016 | Katherine Rosenberg-Douglas

"I take my family into the city quite often, but I'm at the point where I'm ready to boycott the city of Chicago," said Lativsky, who lives in Glen Ellyn. "That someone can't go to Millennium Park -- with someone who should be in jail, with a warrant, 39 arrests, two times for pointing a gun into someone's face -- this scumbag is out on the street when he should be in jail.

Lativsky said he has employed hundreds of people at his business, which does industrial work coating floors, and Fabbri was one of his best.

Anything Lativsky asked his crew to do, Fabbri immediately volunteered.

"He was the friendliest guy in the world," Lativsky said. "I'm just sick to my stomach over this. I'm shocked because he was such a good guy. To hear that there was any kind of confrontation on the street, it just befuddles me."

He said he's known Fabbri for about the past two years and that they often traveled together when the company booked jobs adding epoxy floor coating out of state.

When a crew has had to stay at a hotel for a month or so at a time, he had roomed with Fabbri at least once. He said he could often find him at the hotel pool, he loved to swim.

"He was the kind of guy, I'm a runner and he'd say, 'You're going running? I haven't run in about 10 years, but I'm going to join you,' then we went on a run together," Lativsky said.

In arguing for bail, Pagan's public defender said Pagan cares for two “special needs” children, 12 and 10, diagnosed with autism. He has six children in all, lives with his girlfriend and is a 2000 graduate of Roberto Clemente High School.

Fabbri was leaving a wine-tasting event with his sister, mother and his girlfriend around 7:35 p.m. Saturday.

An example of white privilege echoing throughout liberal circles.

Leave Chicago for the killers, do person, whores and other democrats. Good people need to get out of there now.

Chicago is heading down the same road as Detroit. It is taking longer to get there, but it will arrive at the same demographic location eventually. Taxes are going up. People who pay taxes are leaving and taking their companies and their jobs with them.

Unfortunately, when these snow birds alight in a new working, functioning conservative area, they continue to vote Democrat because they are, apparently, unaware of why their previous location went bad.

For some reason I never found the entire article at that link.

Reading just the excerpt it’s clear they’re not teaching anything worthwhile in journalism school.

Who, what, where, why, how. The journalist never got to what.

I work in downtown Chicago. But I am retiring in a matter of weeks. Once I retire, I doubt seriously if I’ll ever again set foot within the municipal boundaries of Chicago. I say that in all seriousness. There is nothing there I want to do or see.

My twin boys have been offered scholarships (athletic and academic) for Chicago area colleges.....Needless to say, that isn’t going to happen.

There's a dichotomy to the story - Fabbri calling scripture "Hateful messaging" and the perp who really should have not been free to do the shooting. Not exactly sure what your point is due to lack of perspective on what engendered it.

One couple who moved to Chicago stayed one day and moved to another state. They were ridiculed in the press over it.

The Food Manufactuers just pulled their 2017 Convention / Trade Show out of Chicago. Too many of their members refused to attend the show in Chicago. Even though Chicago keeps denying that rising crime effects tourism.

Back in the 60’s we lived over on the Indiana side in Hammond, Chicago was 30 miles away, sandwiched in between Chi town and Gary, IN another corrupt black crime center. And we knew then not to go into those places. Nothing new just worse now. Same reason we stay the H out of Memphis.

I watched that video. Incredibly boring and the young couple was incredibly naive about life in a big city. The young man was very effeminate looking

Bad decision for them, but don't blame them for leaving and wish them the best.

“Too many of their members refused to attend the show in Chicago.”

Anything big and complex, like a city, can be viewed as a system. When systems fail the various complexities interact and cause a cascade of additional failures that accelerate the process and increase the damage at the end.

Really, there are so many things wrong with the Chicago “system” that they are probably irreversible at this point. Just to name one, the underfunded government pensions are causing higher taxes. The higher taxes are accelerating the flight of companies and therefore people, which is cutting into the tax collections. The cut in tax collections is responded to by further increasing taxes. Special deals are cut for cronies which further increase the taxes on the remaining people which accelerates the flight. Similar problems and interactions exist between violence, the perception of safety, tourism, people considering moving there, etc. There are probably a huge number of these interactions and in Chicago it appears they are all tending towards a Detroit-type end.

Political issues will result in agenda items that effect voting to get extra money which will subtract that money from services like police, fire, street lights, etc. This increases crime and the perception of safety and increases flight. The spiral, at this point, is probably irreversible.

I've been boycotting Chicongo since I was born. Dad said the last time he was in Chicago, he got a hotdog at McCormick for $8. That was in the 90s.

Dad was there for a boat show...so it was a business expense, but $8?

The spiral, at this point, is probably irreversible.

Under the current regime -- not just Obama, but the Uniparty -- it is irreversible. But only because reality is not in their ontology. If reality were recognized, the perpetrators would be punished, bankruptcy would be recognized, the enabling lenders would take a haircut, free markets would reign, and an amazing city would arise from something more than ashes.

I'm hoping Trump forms the Reality Party.

Illinois has 102 counties. The state is run by the two most corrupt: 1) Cook [aka Crook] County and 2) Sangamon [home of the state capital]. Chicago occupies most of Cook County and is all DemoRat; Sangamon is run by “The Combine” or UniParty made of Rats and RINOs. Together these thieves are destroying this state and the MSM is in the politician's pockets.
