Growing up in Palo Pinto County Texas everyone even 16 year-old girls had a pistol in the glove bow of their vehicle. Most of the time boys in pick-ups had a shotgun mounted across the back window. The most common traffic accident there was a deer, cow or horse strike and you didn’t always kill the animal in the collision but you had to pull it out from under the vehicle and you didn’t want to leave a wounded animal on the side of the road. Carrying a fire arm was considered the polite and humane thing to do.

If you were stopped for a traffic violation you just told the officer that the pistol was in the glove box before getting the insurance card. If (s)he had an issue they’d ask you to step out of the vehicle and they’d open the glove box themselves.

I had a .38 revolver with about a 4 inch barrel in a holster. I never needed to use it.

I’ve been wanting to ask this question of you deer hunters.
I live and drive a lot in a small town that has deer everywhere. I know I’m going to hit one or fine one somebody else has eventually. I carry a 9mm in the car but my question is where do I shoot the thing to put it out of it’s misery?
Between the eyes, behind the ear, top of the head, where?
