But we all have to remember, crushing her ain’t the goal. These debates are his one chance to talk to her voters. Folks who tune in to see her. His goal is to seize that opportunity and strip her voters away. As many as he can. Crush her in the election, where it counts. Every word he says needs to be aimed straight at her voters in these debates. The polls this morning show we aren’t going to abandon him. He can now go into the next debate with confidence that he can focus on just that. Take as many of her voters away from her as he can.
Well, then, go run for office and win.
Good response
“We are not here to debate the personal life of Barack Hussein Obama. He is not a candidate for the presidency of the US. I have made my final statement of opinion on this matter you raise, and it is on the record. My staff has provided you a copy of my statement if you would like to read it aloud - or I will at this time.
Mr. Obama is leaving office in January and we are here to discuss what will follow. We need to discuss the issues that concern the average working American and we need to get on with letting them know where we stand on the issues that affect them every day and will affect their children”
Next question
Donald left so much meat on the bone. I don’t know about anyone else but I was yelling the answers at the radio during the whole thing. It reminded me of the second Obama/Romney debate where everyone knew that Romney should have slayed him but when it was time never “went there” with any rebuttals. My guess is that any freeper would have been able to give the proper response to any Clinton answer:
Cyber-security = Home brew server/wreckless, careless, etc...
Trickle down economics = Reagan’s and JFK’s policies spurred on the economy to create millions of jobs...
Taxes = Massive increases, 65% death tax, corporate offshore accounts...
National Security = she couldn’t any keep her staff safe in Benghazi
Race relations = Bill said that Obama should be serving him coffee and carrying his luggage. Clinton Crime Bill hit blacks the hardest...
Crime = She laughed about getting a rapist acquitted by accusing the 12 year old victim...
Feel free to add other...
No argument from me.
All of the after-debates shoulda, woulda, coulda remind me of that Seinfled episode with George and his “Hey the Jerk-store called” skit.

Your answer would be a good one in a different context: for example, as a response to the “birther” non-controversy. But for the tax returns I think his actual response - I’ll release them when you release the 30,000 emails - was pithier, more memorable and less defensive.
I was waiting for Trump to say “Well, at least I didn’t try to delete my tax return”!
Also, was totally confused how he missed the whole opportunity to attack her after the cyber security issue. He started rambling about being endorsed by admirals and generals. Hillary was clearly stammering around this issue, and Trump let her go unscathed.
Remember romney. Maybe Trump is building to a crescendo.
I agree with you........I have a feeling in the next 2 debates we’ll see a different Trump. I’m sure his tongue is sore this morning due to him biting it so many times during this debate.........;)
Excellent statement and let’s hope Trump is prepared to give similar statements during the next debate. Too many missed opportunities in this debate.
That would have been a gem.

I agree. He should have hammered on her deliberate effort to hide her corruption, and he should have emphasized she did it to avoid accountability.
Very well-stated. Trump has plenty of dry ammo for the next debate. She, I believe, has unloaded all she has without any real impact. I also pray for Mr. Trump’s safety.
Outstanding!
“TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (BorowitzReport) A blazing fire that ravaged Sen. Hillary Clintons campaign headquarters in Terre Haute, Indiana, destroyed more than just the building, campaign officials revealed today.
A spokesman for the Clinton campaign said that the 2007 tax returns of Mrs. Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, went up in flames along with everything else.
In fact, according to a spokesman for the Terre Haute Fire Department, the tax returns may have been ignited first, setting off the conflagration that burned the building to the ground.
Based on our initial investigation, it looks like gasoline was poured all over the tax returns and then set ablaze, said THFD spokesman Tracy Klujian. Whoever did this has experience in destroying records.
While the Terre Haute police have yet to name any suspects in the inferno, an eyewitness to the fire said he saw a person in a yellow pantsuit with black trimming fleeing the building moments after the campaign headquarters caught on fire.
At a press conference in Pittsburgh, Mrs. Clinton said that the incineration of her tax records was a great personal loss, adding, I was so looking forward to sharing them with the American people.

Bill Clinton was there.
bump
Make up another sentence with different details, same style. Then if she seems to be recovering, hit her with that one.
I would have loved it if Trump came back and said "Well it's certainly true that when it comes to having to testify in investigations about your corruption or incompetence you have a LOT of experience. And knowing your way of doing business I'm sure you'll have many more opportunities to use those skills. So I'll concede that you have the stamina to spin, lie, and deflect for hours on end."
For or against the Iraq war. I forget, what policy making body was he a member of, the House or the Senate? Wait a minute, he was a private citizen!
I was thinking the same thing.
There were a bunch of questions by Holt and comments by Hillary, that Trump could have responded in a similar manner.
The left likes to set the agenda of the debate. Trump can't let them do that.
