A draw. No major knockout on either side. Trump stood up for himself when necessary. I don't think it will move the needle, and Krauthammer made a good observation: Draws usually go to the challenger, and that is Donald Trump.
If I were to advise Trump, it would consist of the following:
1) Complete your sentences. You are giving the audience too much credit for figuring out what you mean when you shoot off two or three words.
2) Stop repeating the same point 5 or 6 times. You are wasting time.
3) Speak less to broad concepts and more to the common man.
4) Affability matters. Reagan won on affability. Smile a little more, but not with that forced weird smile Hillary plastered on most of the debate. Also, an affable Reaganesque "There you go again"-style phrase, queued up and ready to go when appropriate, would work wonders.
5) Next time, don't leave those hanging slow pitches unswatted. For example, when Hillary talks about your charity, mention her Clinton Foundation that only gives out 6% of it's money to charitable works. Also, speak more about how Hillary is the DC Establishment, and you are there to challenge that. Many people will identify that as a key takeaway.
On the whole I give Hillary high marks, and Trump close but not as good. Stylistically Hillary did very well, but in content Trump nailed it a few times.
However, he needs to take a reality check and prepare more in a structured debate setting. Obama had a HORRIBLE first debate and came back strong. Trump wasnt horrible, but he needs to come back strong. I know he can do it.
Over here. Expanded on my post and made it a thread.
Trump did what he needed to do
We might be hard on him but others aren’t
Yup. Well put Laz.
Hillary was almost destroyed, but was kept flopping. Trump needs to go for the jugular in the next one.
Yours is an excellent point. Brought it to this thread.
“....Trump stood up for himyself...”
Hillary stood up.
Draw
Wrong. You can't earn high marks when you lie repeatedly, call everyone a racist and have no plans other than spew the same nonsense policies that have filed for so long.
She bragged about the Iran deal which was a disaster
She bragged about NATO and Afghanistan which is a disaster
She plans to spend tons of money on green energy which is a failure
Wants to tax and spend which doesn't work
She spouted some nonsense about police and communities coming together.
She was on attack mode most of the night and gave no legitimate reason for voting for her.
ditto
Ha. I already responded on the other thread, but to repeat, You hit all the things I was thinking and added a couple that I had not been thinking, but agree with.
The one thing trump has going for him is that he is inexperienced. That is, there is a lot of room for improvement.
Hillary has reached her “pinnacle” and is on the downside.
Right at the beginning, Holt introduced the candidates, they shook each other’s hand, then they went over to shake Holt’s hand.
He spoke to them in a very low tone, probably thinking no one could hear him. But I picked it up. He said, “Mrs. Clinton, good luck. Mr. Trump, good to see you.”
From the very beginning, his bias was showing.
And his team, which has continued to improve, will help him do even better.
I agree with this. Spot on.
This is all Trump needed.
Those 9% are morons. Hillary only showed her nasty turkey neck. Trump was presidential.
Hillary was sucking and Trump was hammering her. I don’t think it was a draw but I don’t think Trump knocked her out. there probably isn’t going to be a knockout in this fight though.
Trump should never again say he agrees with The Beast about ANYTHING! I was mortified he did that several times!
When they (Lester and Hillary Team) brought up “the women issue” Trump should not have held his fire...he needed to blast her as being in charge of Bill’s Bimbo Eruptions and Hill destroying Bill’s victims.
Hilda lied and lied about him, he needed to blast back more and INTERRUPT that old harpie, who was HOGGING ALL THE TIME!!!
Lester was as expected, the ump on the DNC team. May he rot in hell.
I did NOT like his answer about gun bans for the Terrorist Watch List. He should have hewed closer to the Second Amendment, and instead challenged the Terrorist Watch List used for guns as a bureaucratic and nonjudicial method of removing constitutional rights. Maybe said, “We wouldn’t deny the 5th Amendment based on that list, would we???”
