The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area.

Longtime radio personality and The Big Broadcast host Ed Walker passed away early on Oct. 26 at age 83. We invite you to leave your thoughts and remembrances.

Saying Goodbye To Ed Walker

Ed Walker spent 65 years on the radio. His last program was unlike any other.

Evening all...it’s a relaxing weekend around here...

The lineup tonight is unique, not sure what to make of it...Gina’s favorite, the The Aldrich Family...let’s skip Superman...Dragnet at 8:30pm...Then two hours of I don’t know what to expect but hope for great things...Gregory Peck in Screen Director’s Playhouse should be good...Destination Freedom, don’t remember much of Ida Wells or the series...CBS Radio Workshop and Season I’m going blind into...and have good memories of Quiet Please...

Life continues to move on despite the country (deliberately) spinning out of control with no leadership...how are you?

Hi, Vision! I say it’s a sucky lineup. As long as he mangles the intro-three, he gets an F. I can’t remember what The Aldrich Family is. Do I hate it? Probably so, if it’s a silly “Dad is stupid” comedy.

Like you said, crazy-evil is afoot in our nation’s leadership, but our life is currently—the the Lord—moving along.

Hey Gina, yes the Aldrich Family is the one that’s respected by writers as being very character driven.

What’s cooking? And how are you handling the NFL thing?

Keith reminded me of The Aldrich Family’s irritating presentation. He said it’s kinda like Archie.

The NFL thing is detestable. Those guys need to be fired. Freedom of speech is not the issue, or else they wouldn’t earn penalties for “excessive celebration” and such. There are rules of conduct that COULD be enforced, but the commissioner and coaches and owners are cowards.

We’re smoking some chicken and Conecuh sausage tonight. How about you?

I may be confused about the Aldrich Family. I thought his was the one that dono liked that had the very intense, character dialog.

I made this last night, and am having leftovers. It's fantastic. Of course, with some rice which just beeped...

Did anyone use the TuneIn Radio app on your mobile device to listen to the Big Broadcast? I see the BB is no longer supported by TuneIn and am wondering if it’s using a different app now even though I don’t see where it explains so on the WAMU website. TIA!

Johnny mispronounced the name of the city of Mobile, AL. He called it mobile, as in a mobile phone, but the city’s name is pronounced Mo-BEEL. A common mistake people unfamiliar with it make, even back then.

I just tested the tune in link and it works for me. I searched on wamu and big broadcast, both work.

Ahh. I missed it, that’s strange.

From before, I confused the Aldrich family with Vic and Sade. That’s what you don’t like.

Ok, thanks! Not sure what’s going on on my end. Listening online, the ‘old-fashioned way’ :)

The Aldrich family is annoying, which may be their point. I’m muting until GS.
