I’m going to answer your question in a round about way. Bear with me and you’ll understand.
Ask yourself what exactly it is you want your site to do in a nut shell. Likely the answer is I want to be contacted or the phone to ring (no number on your site). Secondly you need content so people will know what you do so they’ll want to call you.
Here’s the harsh news: a web site is fast becoming and antiquated way of meeting the above mentioned goals. Social media is the fastest and cheapest way to gain a following and create interest - period. Facebook, YouTube and Intagram are tailor made to promote your services. There’s mountains of literature out there to understand these media and how it can relate to your business.
If you MUST have a website, use a content management system like Wix or Wordpress. You never need to know HTML to successfully manage your content. These systems do a great deal of other stuff like SEO, accessibility and device display with very little effort.
Remember this above all: CONTENT IS KING! It always has been and it always will be.
Playing audio when loading a web page is a bad idea. It’s not work friendly. You should always have users choose to play the audio.
To do that you’ll need a JavaScript but as someone else said it’s not a good idea. Few people enjoy an unwanted sound file playing when they visit a site. Makes me want to exit quick. Better to post a list and let people play themselves. What someone else said about social media is very true. These days a website is more of a gateway to your facebook/twitter page and vice versa.
Not sure this should be here, but....
when I am on a thread and I’d like all thread participants to “see” something, is there a shortcut for “all” rather than having to copy\paste each username ? ( let’s say 100 user names)
thanks for any help
just don’t let the gunner hear about this.
<a href="file.wav">Click here to hear my voice</a>
<a href="file.mp3">Click here to hear MP3</a>
When the link is clicked the person's default file player will start and play your file on their PC.
These examples above assume your sound file is in the root directory of your website. Below is an example if you put the sound files in a subdir called "samples".
<a href="samples/file.wav">Click here to hear my voice</a>
<a href="samples/file.mp3">Click here to hear MP3</a>
MP3 is one of the most supported sound file formats so I recommend that.
