Disturbing photos have emerged of a man who appears to be dragging a little girl by her hair in Walmart.

Erika Burch, was shopping when she spotted the man, who she says, had the child's hair 'wrapped around the buggy' as he dragged her down the aisles.

Burch said the child was pleading for the man to stop.

People of Wal Mart. No one ever thinks to call the police. Just take pictures and post to social media.

BTW am not saying the man does not have a right to "discipline" a child. Just saying my parents would have put me in the car and taken me home had I misbehaved very badly. The act of doing that would have been very disgraceful to me.

Burch said she flagged down an officer and he called his sergeant with the Cleveland Police Department.

“The act of doing that would have been very disgraceful to me.”

Whenever Mom took Sis & I with her to the store, before we went in she’d say, “I have ‘this’ much money and we are getting This, This and This. I’m NOT buying you anything, so don’t even bother to ask!”

And it never occurred to us to question her!

Of course, Grandma was a softie; she’d buy us anything we wanted, as is the God-Given RIGHT of ANY Grandma, LOL! :)

I hope this kid is OK and there is a valid explanation...

Didn't you read the article? The woman who took the pictures also called the police.

Yep. And there's more. From the article:

Burch wrote in the post that the sergeant told her that the man 'has the right to discipline his children'. She also added in the post that the sergeant told her for it to be 'abuse there had to be bodily injury to the child'.

------

So what's the deal here? Is dragging a young girl around by her hair abuse if the child shows no signs of injury?

Me too, but that ship has sailed. I still joke about to this day breaking out in a cold sweat when walking by a womens bathroom in a dept store due to being spanked in so many as a kid. :)

Disgusting. Why wasn’t police or someone there quickly to stop this outrage? What if that wasn’t even his kid? Hope he’s been found, arrested, and the little girl put into protective services.

That sergeant needs to be fired.

Pictures of this guy are very clear and will go viral between web, social, and news media. He has some explaining to do.

If this is treatment in public, have to wonder what life is like for that girl at home. Hope my assumptions are wrong.

He is going to regret that choice of discipline. I am all for discipline but this is over the line of acceptable.

My husband would not have called the police on this man. He would have called an ambulance and then “prepared” the man for his trip to the hospital.

I don’t think that’s abuse. Depending on the child, it might be smart.

At a bare minimum, the sergeant should have taken the man aside, got his ID, and made sure he really was the father of that child. Then the sergeant should have warned the man: Do anything like this again and you will be arrested.

Good for your Mr. You don’t hurt little girls. If a child needs discipline, take the child home for a spanking.

” Just saying my parents would have put me in the car and taken me home had I misbehaved very badly. “

I had to do that once, leaving behind a cart full of groceries.

That “rascal” is now 51 years old.:-)

I don’t think he’ll like being famous a whole lot.

Looks like Dad needs a time out to cool down, stop the power struggle. If the child is that much of a wanderer, that difficult to shop with, then don’t bring her into a big supermarket full of distractions. Or bring a second person to hold her hand. I guess using a thin braided leash with harness is not allowed in today’s world, at least not with a child that old.

Disgusting. Why wasn’t police or someone there quickly to stop this outrage?

We do not know that it is an outrage. It may just be a very foolish and unconventional way to make a child behave.

I am not ready to call this "abuse" until I have heard more about it.

What if that wasn’t even his kid?

Then I doubt he would be parading her around like that without any concern for getting apprehended. That is likely a nonsense suggestion.

Hope he’s been found, arrested, and the little girl put into protective services.

What I find far more threatening to our lives than a foolish father disciplining his child in an odd manner are those busy body interference Nazis who want to bring the power of the state down on people because their little sissy selves are outraged about something they don't like.

I used to tell my kids that they couldn’t whine and ask for everything their hearts desired. I told them to act like they’d actually been out in public before.
