Hope you enjoy. Eldorado Overture/Can't Get It Out of My Head
music *ping*
“New World Record” was my very first...record.
I’ve always loved ELO.
Please no one tell me Jeff Lynne is a commie, as most of my heroes are already dead to me.
Related note: Tom Petty is dead to me, as is Lynyrd Skynyrd.
70s music that didn’t s@ck.
I got tired of this album after the original release because they played it so much. 7-8 years later I went and bought three ELO albums released between ‘72 and ‘75. Also bought “Ole’ ELO” on CD after that.
ELO sings “Strange Magic!” (1976)

This song is about the loss of English heritage. Decades old, and now proven correct. England is dead.
I didn’t realize that was the thought behind this song. I’ve always loved the melody, orchestration and production.
Re; the album cover showing Dorothys sparkly Red Stilettos.
Did you know Ozzy Osbornes wife designed that album cover?
LOVE ELO. Haven’t heard Jeff’s latest work yet, ‘though. I need to get on that.
The music is reversible but time is not.
When I was Young, many, many years age. I had some friends that told me to get an album be a group called ELO. What the hell I got, On it was the song that I feel fits the group to the tee. That song was Roll over, Beethoven. I couldn’t believe the way they play that song. ELO along with one other group Emerson, Lake and Palmer where what I considered groups embracing all types of music and combining them into a form that cannot be duplicated.
It goes to show how dumbed down and manufactured the “popular music” biz has become these days, when one contemplates the originality and talent of a Jeff Lynne.
Your right, And I’ll even add Supertramp to the list. But then again, I grew up listening to The Beatles and The Who, so I guess I have a jaded taste when it comes to the music of today
One of (among many others), my favorite ELO songs.
ELO had some really really good songs... “Strange Magic” and “M. Blue Sky” are two of my favorites.
Were right next to each other in the CD rack, which was convenient. Well, back when there were CDs.
Well c’mon, ELO was in my rack of vinyl records, back when vinyl was “in”..... it sure did take up a lot of space!
