Gunnery Sgt. Hartman: “Oh sure that’s right private Haji, don’t make any effin attempt to get in the effing dryer! I’ll bet if there was some pu$$y in that dryer you could get in there!” (Okay, okay. A lame ‘Full Metal Jacket’ gag but I gave it a shot!)

You should have seen Boot Camp before “The Ribbon Creek Incident,” if you think this is something to get excited about.

If ‘they’ would have paid attention nothing would have happened.

I was about a year from enlisting and it just made me want to go more -

Of course, I had the Nuns of the 40s/50s to toughen us up for boot camp.

I really think the Sea Services ‘loved’ us Catholic School boys because we had been through most of what ‘they’ did to us and survived. AND we knew (for the most part) how to keep our mouths shut.

The ‘hardest’ part of Boot Camp is whipping a bunch of High School kids into men in a very short period of time.

The Nuns had prepared us for the early stages....

I recently had a similar conversation with an Emergency Room nurse.

I had arrived by ambulance at about 0400, and after I was stabilized and they were filling out all the forms required for admission, one of the questions was, “Have you been abused or neglected.” The question took me aback, as I had never been asked that question anytime in the past, and I didn’t know quite what she meant, but I had read somewhere about “Elderly Abuse,” and I do qualify as elderly, so I answered, as a joke, “I served four years in the Marine Corps, does that count?”

We both got a good laugh out of it.

Good answer...

I used to say that I was sane and had the papers to prove it.

I was referring to my ‘passing’ the tests for Submarine Service,

It took me a few years to realize that the test was not to determine the sanity of us but to prove ‘we’ were CRAZY enough to jump from a sound aircraft, sink a steel tube or swim for miles with far too much weight strapped to ones back.

Being in the Corps was crazy enough but signing up for submariner
service takes crazy to a whole new level. ;~)

It was GOOD to be ‘young and foolish’.

Besides, it is a tough job and someone has to do it.

I still have the instinct etc to go TOWARDS a burning building or gunfire....

Probably be in the way when I get there BUT with present standards the only ones there would be of like mindset etc..

I still can’t get over the site of MANY armed men standing outside a building while waiting for the ‘correct time’ to enter while mayhem is going on inside......

Because my Marine squadron had a tail hook, I spent about 25% of my
tour on various carriers...the berthing on those beasts was bad enough and
you could always go topside to get some air...can't imagine what that was
like on a sub...you and your brethren have my respect.

***People like you, it will suck to be at the gate to eternity.***

That is not your call to make.

“But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.” Matthew 5:22

If you maintain your own attitude, your own words will condemn you.

And I will even elaborate why: you insinuated that a recruit being Muslim is a good reason to abuse him.

Not even Jesus would be on board with that one, buster. Brother did not have to mean co-religionist in this context; Jesus was talking to a crowd of mixed believers and unbelievers, and a brother or sister would be any human. Your words condemn you.

You can repent or you can maintain. But you are not at Christianity.

I am dismayed that so many Freepers think it is ok to abuse a recruit as long as he is Muslim.

He may be in the dryer for reasons other than being a Muslim.........................

Don’t buy into the agenda.......................

***you insinuated that a recruit being Muslim is a good reason to abuse him***

It is not a good reason to abuse him, it is a GREAT reason to expel him from America.. America and islam do not mix because islam requires subjugation to islamic sharia law.

I will not bow down to false gods.
