16-year-old Hillside High School student Jalen Thompson Johnson was shot and killed early yesterday as he donned a mask, claimed to be a police officer, and tried to kick in the door of a Durham, NC apartment. Unfortunately for Johnston, the homeowner was not only also armed, he was a better shot.
A teen was shot to death while trying to force his way into an apartment in Durham Monday morning, police said. The resident of the apartment was injured in the shooting.
Durham police responded to a report of a shooting at 12:42 a.m. in the 800 block of East Woodcroft Parkway at South Terrace at Auburn Apartments.
Police said that Jalen Thompson Johnson, 16, of Durham, was wearing a mask and was “apparently…attempting to force entry into an occupied apartment.”
Johnson and the man who lived in the home appeared to have exchanged gunfire, according to police. The man in the apartment was shot in the leg and transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
You’d almost be convinced by how WNCN covered the story that Johnson was the victim here, instead of a violent criminal.
The teenager left dead after the gunfire, Jalen Johnson, was a student at Hillside High School in Durham. The school’s principal, Dr. William Logan, said Johnson was a “great kid” and called his death a “loss to our school.”
Word about Johnson’s death spread quickly via social media and the school worked quickly to provide a way for students to grieve.
“Counselors from our team are here to assist the students,” Logan said.
ohnson was such a “great kid” that he committed armed robbery and shot a man during a home invasion while pretending to be a police officer.
The only thing Hillside High School lost when Jalen Johnson died was a criminal threat to the student body.
Fortunately the apartment owner did not fall for Johnson’s ruse and was able to defend himself.
Apparently, the “great kid” identified by the “educator” was a criminal and idiot.

Yes, he was turning his life around and about to release his first record to get money for junior college right after he gets his GED. He was a good boy.
This make me wonder sometimes.
I was no angel like many of us in our late teens, early 20s.
But I guess i went a step further and broke into some vending machines for the cash and the bill validator (worth 200 hot). IT was a disgusting thing to do and if it wasn’t 25 years later with NO way to find the original owner, or even remember the gas station it was, I would pay it all back.
What if i got shot doing that? Would I have been called a great kid. I guess I wasn’t and thems would have been the breaks.
Drill could EASILY be mistaken for a gun.
And mom and friends would be saying this exact thing. They would have been wrong at the time.

Yeah, the same way cockroaches are a loss to the school after the exterminator leaves.
He probably was a great kid. But somebody told him Whitey Owed Him.
He was a “great kid”, just getting his life turned around, this was going to be his very last home invasion before he enrolled in the rapper music academy.
Give yourself a little bit of a break on this one. Breaking into a vending machine is NOT the same as armed breaking and entering someone’s abode.
But yes, it would be a dangerous thing to do, and a drill could be mistaken for a gun, and all of that. But this story is not about someone breaking into a vending machine with a drill.
"Dr." Logan should cease forthwith to be principal. He is manifestly unfit for the job.
For those of you playing along at home...I looked. He’s one of 0bama’s sons.

If Johnson’s demise was a loss to the school, the school is way below gutter level, on average.
He was going back to school to become an aspiring rapper
perhaps you’re not aware of it but guns are easier to come by then books for kids - at least according to the current resident in the WH.
Johnson was no mulatto. Just workin’ the nuances here...
He was 16. Did he have children yet?

IMHO, there's much more to this story than we see here.
Just another "Drug Deal Gone Wrong" is my best guess.
