Well enough that he made it to the hospital.

A lot of people think that Vietnam era flak jackets are “bullet proof vests”, that may be what this was. A friend of ours is one of the owners of a company that has come out with newly designed bullet proof technology that is vastly superior to what the military and police are currently using. They have repeated test results that show this, but because of “budgetary” concerns the military and police are not buying them at this time, although they have had to jump over unbelievable hurdles. They have had many offers from foreign entities but do not want their work to fall into the wrong hands.

Even if the bulletproof vest had worked, the guy still would have been injured. Just an incredibly stupid thing to do, regardless.

"...How did they manage that? Did the shooter miss the panels with Kevlar, use too powerful a pistol, or shoot a vest that had deteriorated?..."

Yes.

The government could, if it had the mind to do so, could declare your friend’s invention ‘National Security’ technology and ban its sale to foreign entities................

The cousin who pulled the trigger deserves all the blame he has coming towards him.

Reminds me of the fool who blew his own leg off when he shot at an explosive that was packed inside an old lawn mower.

In Joaquin’s case, he was just asking a rhetorical question, not really asking for a demonstration..............

Okay, I’ll ask the obvious question:

Why was there an explosive packed inside an old lawn mower?.....................

Apparently, there is some type of explosive called Tannerite that is legal to buy that guys like to detonate by shooting at it for target practice. The dumbass in question packed some into a lawnmower so he could watch the lawn mower "blow up real good". His shots repeatedly failed to detonate the explosive, so he kept getting closer to the target. Eventually, he was able to detonate the explosive and blow up the lawn mower; but a piece of lawn mower shrapnel flew towards him and "blew off his leg". His equally foolish friend recorded the whole thing for youtube.

Was alcohol involved, or is that a silly
question?

Correct. Tannerite is usually used in containers about the size of a jam jar. The dumbass in question mixed up over 80 pounds of the stuff. That’s gonna leave a mark...and it did.

Why was there an explosive packed inside an old lawn mower?

Because he didn't want to blow up his new mower?

Human test with no prep.

Because wrapping the vest around a tree trunk was too much trouble.
