What does it cost to buy a replacement adapter when you lose the "free" one?

I see all of you guys have got your new marching orders. Now you talk about having to REPLACE a lost adapter.... right. I see. Where do you get these orders, guys. it has to be a central source because it is so coordinated. You ALL started at the same time with the same meme. Amazing.

It’s called “freedom of choice”

And my choice is I will either stick with iPhone6 line or move over to Android. I always have to end up charging my iPhone during the day while I stream music, and I am not interested in those stupid airbuds that hold a five hour charge and which I would probably lose one within a month.

They are simply making a whole couple of generations of headphone obsolete.

Just because Apple comes out with a new phone does not mean that everyone has to convert to it by tomorrow. Unless of course it is like the ACA - if you like your iPhone 6s you can keep it. I have two sets of headphones - one wired that I keep at my desk and one wireless that I keep in my saddlebags for riding.

You are correct.

The pace of technological progress is the most rapid in history.

Why do some “people” find it necessary to comment on an Apple post
and name call and bad mouth fellow freepers, if you don’t like the product FINE, I happen to like all of my Apple hardware, it just works for me.
You don’t see me going to the android post and dogging the hell out of you do ya?
Geez, grow the hell up, we have more than enough other problems

I don’t know that I’d ever use the term “ecosystem”, much less care to be part of one.

"You are, whether or not you want to be.It's just a word."

And exactly what is this "ecosystem" of which I'm alleged to be a part?

"Ecosystem" sounds better to liberals than "iBorg".

You can use the lightning wired headphones with a charging station, or use the adapter with the 3.5 mm jack.

There’s no need to go wireless with your headset, nor do you have to use the earbuds - you could use a more traditional wireless headset if you wanted.

You threw out some very insulting and misleading and blatantly false statements about some new Apple products.

I called you on it. You were ignorant on what you said, now you know. Hopefully, you learned something. One thing Apple is not known for is taking existing crap tech, and selling it at extreme profits. They take an idea, they polish that idea, and they deliver a complete, well thought out idea to the market and they make a good profit on that idea.

The W1 chip and the EarPods are simply the latest example of this

I was joking. You write like a douche.

Now I am sure you are a retired engineer. Only a retired nerd would react the way you did.

Let's review, shall we, Sonny boy?

ado about next to nothing.
If someone is hooking their headphone to an apple to listen to “good quality” music, they are an idiot at the start.
It is an OK system, and it puts up with a lot of crap. But, wearing wireless headphones that crap out two miles from home because they were not charged will piss me off.

Somehow, it seems more immature and insulting than "funny". You see, Jr; when someone is being sarcastic, you would follow up with a < sarcasm> flag. No, you go on to call me a "douche" when I simply point out, for all the world to see what an ignorant, posed and bully you are. The thing to learn from this encounter, Lt, is that there are far smarter and more intelligently gifted individuals around than you. And it's a very simple thing for us, to humiliate someone who is not intelligent nor possessing the integrity to learn anything about a topic he chooses to insult.

Think of this as a learning opportunity; I highly suspect this is your first such lesson.

For what it's worth, I work with much higher rank professionals than you on a daily basis. You are the level of professional they mock; I understand why the Lt COLs and COLs snicker now.

don’t know that I’d ever use the term “ecosystem”, much less care to be part of one.

If you have purchased any amount of applications on Google Play Store or the Apple Store; then you have an investment in that "ecosystem". Now on the Apple side, most users happily drop $0.99 for an app that has no ads. Google tracks and monitors your email, locations, texts and also bombards you with ads that are based upon data gathered from your email, texts, locations and past purchases. Thus; like it or not; if you use Android you are tied into their ecosystem.

Apple users have a financial tie into the Apple ecosystem. Every app they have purchased is tied to their AppleID. This is the same with Android, any app you purchased is tied to your Google account. If you leave Google, you leave any app you may have purchased. Thus, the ecosystem

I'll repeat it again for people like yourself that can't read:

The adapter is included for free!

I'll repeat it again.

The adapter is included for free!

What part of free do you not understand? The iPhone 7 is being sold at the same prices as the former phone, the iPhone 6, which did not have an adapter included. And... the iPhone 7 has additional capabilities, while being sold at the same price. Additionally, it comes with a set of wired headphones, not included before in the iPhone 6. The adapter and wired headphones are indeed free. If you lose the adapter, you can buy a replacement for $9 from Apple. But it is included free in the iPhone 7 box, no additional cost from the older phones.

Sorry, but I wouldn’t buy anything from Google or Apple. The “ecosystem” is just another trendy silly made-up PCism, signifying nothing. You’ll be embarrassed you ever used the term a few years from now.

Not at all.
For example, in the Apple ecosystem I enjoy having up to 10 iOS devices on my AppleID or in my associated “family” sharing the same app, at the same time. As I upgrade or replace any device, that device gets those apps for free, as well as any updates for free. I also enjoy a new iOS every year and numerous firmware updates during the year that add functionality that did not exist previously.

For example, I get the Apple iWork suite FREE that now supports collaborative work, and that is a big deal. Naturally iWork both imports and exports files into the MS Office Suite nearly flawlessly. Numbers (Excel), Pages (Word), and Keynote (PowerPoint). All free.

So, is that a ecosystem? Yes it is.

Now let’s add to it. I can make phone calls or FaceTime phone calls from my Mac, iPad or iPhone. Using either my Ethernet WiFi or phone number, seamlessly. I can move files between these devices using AirDrop by simply clicking on the file and telling the device which device I wish it “AirDropped” too. I can relay video from any device to any other device. That is nice. That is the Apple “environment” that is supported across all Apple devices, so that would be a “ecosystem”

Meh, you can get a free OS with free programs and updates to both the OS and apps anytime without joining some iBorg. Get Linux, it won’t cost you a thing other for the device(s) of your own choosing that you want to put it on.

Why would I want unsupported Linux, when I have a full blown UNIX OS with OSX? Apparently you do not know that OSX is a GUI that sits on top of a UNIX OS (Darwin kernel).

The OS X is free, it is supported, I can do anything I want with OS X and I have all the benefits of UNIX at my disposal.

Again, bashing a Apple without knowing a whole lot of what you are talking about. Doesn’t this get old? Ignorance can be cured; stupidity is forever.

Sorry, but I must have missed the free iMAC .iso download at Distrowatch. I really wanted to save 1400 bucks and get one for nada , too, dang it! Let me know when they have another giveaway, I love freebies.
Though, after hunting around, I did manage to find a used “Apple iMac M6498 15 All-In-One PowerPC G4 1.00GHz 512MB RAM 80GB HDD” for $39.99 at Ebay. So, I guess that’s close to “free” in today’s inflated tech-toy price world.
