One of my favorite soundtracks from my youth in the 60's. Enjoy Hugh Masekela in studio, performing one of his most enduring signature tracks.
TOPICS: Chit/Chat

Crank it up, y'all!

Practically every track on this album is a winner. Here's another one:

Grew up during the same timeframe and listened to jazz quite a bit. Enjoyed HM quite a bit with all the ole heavies.

Wow, this is new to me and quite nice. Glad I could turn you on to it. It's the hit track of the very first album I ever purchased with my own money (1968).
Am I dating myself? I hope so ;-)

Enjoyed HM quite a bit with all the ole heavies. Ah...a kindred soul. I knew there had to be a few here.
Thanks for the appreciation.

Oh yeah. "Grazing In The Grass" is a perennial favorite!

Masakela played the horn riff in the Byrds song: “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star”. His contribution really made the song stand out and it was the first time I ever heard of him. Been a fan ever since.

I had no idea he made that earlier an entry to the western music scene. My respect for the man just ratcheted up a couple notches higher.

Grazin’In The Grass by Hugh Masekela led me to listen to this song by Bony James..both of these versions are delicious to listen to.
