Battery storage or not, I wouldn't rely on it to power a 12v refrigerator, but lights and laptops, why not?
“Some complaints have been made that they can cause too much noise for residents living within a mile of the blades.”
That “whup whup whup” is the same sound as opening your rear drivers side window when driving.
“The technical term for this effect is the Helmholtz resonance, though car people call it “side window buffeting”. Back in the 1850s, a scientist named Hermann von Helmholtz showed that the sound’s pitch depends on the size of your container of air and of the opening. The bigger the container of air, the lower the pitch. The smaller the opening, the higher the pitch. If you blow over a bottle, you get a medium-pitch whistle. Since a car’s a big container of air, you get a low throbbing noise.”
Noise and vibration. Both the residential and industrial types. Although if mounted properly and in a suitable location then acoustic annoyances from the small ones are not an issue. No escape, though, if you live close to a 300 ft behemoth.
I am a pilot, and they are covering the landscape from my perspective. President Trump should cut all subsidies on day 1.
If they can’t make money without government help then the free market can’t afford them.
A I recall, the equilibrium point on solar is about 20-25 years. The average solar cell has a 20 year lifespan. Break even and replace the same week.
There’s a church in New Jersey that went all in. It must have ben several years ago because about 2/3 of the cells are all foggy now.
Plus, most people don’t realize that dirt on the cells lowers efficiency drastically. I don’t see too many folks up washing their solar cells every week.
I used to work for a company that supplies materials to a solar cell manufacturer. I realized it was a scam when I came to the conclusion that neither their US nor Mexico plant was solar powered. Hmmmm.
Nameplate capacity is not average power delivered.
