A seven-year-old boy is covered from head to toe in extreme bruises, allegedly at the hands of his mother.
Prosecutors say 30-year-old Kin Park Thaing, a Burmese immigrant, admitted to beating her son with a coat hanger because she believed he was about to harm his younger sister.
The boy's teacher noticed 36 large welts and bruising on his head, back, arm, and leg. She notified police, and Thaing was arrested, charged with battery and neglect of a dependent.

She used a coat hangar...... tell her they would have dismissed the charge had she used an actual rod....
I understand the injustice & the abuse but what is the point of posting this on FR?
From the article :
The judge, however, denied to dismiss the charges.
Marion County prosecutor Terry Curry calls the mother’s actions “clear criminal conduct.”
“You’re entitled to spank your child, however there is a line at which that becomes unreasonable,” Curry said. “We believe that this particular defendant went way over that line.”
“Thaing was arrested, charged with battery and neglect of a dependent.”
‘Battery and neglect of a dependent?’ Whaaa?
Why not felonious child abuse? I hope she is sentenced to life, without the possibility of parole...
Total misunderstanding of that verse

No where does the Bible tell one you should beat your child black and blue
One of them bruised up the other's child badly with his -- and ...using that same scripture as defense in court didn't go well for either of them...
