Hope Solo reacted the way any elite athlete would to news she had been suspended for six months and her contract terminated by the U.S. Soccer Federation in the wake of calling the Swedish team a bunch of cowards after the U.S. womens national team was eliminated from the Rio Olympics.
She cursed. She hugged her husband. She broke down.
This being Solo, the moment on Aug. 24 when she learned the news was recorded by Fullscreen, a company that is making a documentary called Keeping Score.

Sore loser Solo should know that words matter to FIFA and the PC National Federations.
I don’t feel one bit sorry for her and her sour grapes attitude.
And a Biotch !
She’s local and a real piece of work - had some sort of domestic flare up.
Hot babe in more ways than one. Hope she has kids before it’s too late.
That says it all. Best at what she does. Not a pleasant person. Not sure she deserves this, but it’s cumulative, and I can’t feel too bad.
Back to the kitchen.
What an embarrassment; beaten fair & square according to the rules of the game she professes to love, and comes out with that afterwards? What a role model of sportsmanship...I’m glad they lost.
LOL!
With her hubby who beat the crap out of her the day before their wedding?
What a match made in hell! I hope they don’t....just sayin’
I don’t know who that is, but she’s definitely not guilty!
She would have been red carded for her glove antics had it been a World Cup or FIFA sanctioned event.
She’s an idiot! I wish the press would stop talking about her.
She’s been dead in the sport since she insulted the entire host country just before the games started. The US team was in a quandary just before the games and had to keep her on the team. Every time she touched the ball in the first match there were loud choruses of boos.
Hope seems extremely high maintenance, even for an Olympic athlete. Back in 2014 she called her 17 year old male cousin ‘too fat to be an athlete’. He called her an equally unflattering name. She lunged at her young cousin and begin fighting him.
The boy’s mother, (Hope’s half sister) tried to intervene. Hope begins attacking her half sister. The 17 y/o male cousin picked up a broom to try and separate Hope from his mom. It doesn’t work, even though he broke the wooden broom over Hope’s head(!!). The boy returns with a non functioning BB gun. Eventually they call the police just to make Hope leave their house and them alone.
The girl has ‘problems’. I would not be surprised if she hits her husband when she’s angry.
Some top athletes have trouble compartmentalizing their energy, their anger and passion for winning.
Star Wars
He is the scruffy looking nerf herder
Calling the Swedish team ‘ cowards ‘ was a disgrace.
You want to have a few adult beverages and do so on your own time, fine. But broadcasting such an opinion all over the world?
Stay classy, you stupid dingbat.
I agree, but they are really engaged in a full-court press to try to popularize women’s soccer. Years ago one of my sons bought a pack of MLS cards (similar to baseball cards of my childhood), and there were a couple of female players in it (from one of the leagues that since folded). Americans don’t generally like soccer anyway, but watching it at half speed with half the world not even fielding teams makes it an impossible task.
I’d put Solo in charge of the entire team.
She’s a little wacky but also a heck of a competitor AND MARRIED TO A MAN (WHO IS ALSO A LITTLE WACKY), unlike the current coach Jill Ellis who is a ‘married’ lesbian with a daughter.
Yes, the crowds were chanting “Zika” when she’d have the ball. Her criticism was probably vindicated when the Olympic Committee publicly stated they wouldn’t hold the Olympics in another site without proper preparation, but she probably should have kept the comments to herself...
“She hugged her husband.”
There in lies the problem. Had she been hugging her wife, there would not be any story.
