A good scene from a mediocre movie
I found this to be a rather lame adaptation of the Oscar Wilde novel. However for some reason this scene has always been one of my favorites from bad movies
One of my favorite movies. She maintained a lifelong friendship with Hurd Hatfield.
Love old movies, but usually with certain actors like betty Davis, Mitchum, Stewart, Crawford, Bogie, however if a FReeper recommends it, I will watch one.
IS this a great one :)
BTW, after the Godfather’s I and II, All About Eve and Citizen Kane are my favorite movies.
As for the Godfather movies, i LOVE them, but also you can get kicked off of Staten Island if they’re not your number 1 and no. 2 :)
Saw it at drive in 2 weeks ago. It was great.
Betty Davis..best American actress in my book.
This is not a great movie but it has some good scenes.
Thanks man You’re a huge movie buff aren’t you?
That’s cool.
Started watching some old horror (when it hit me at 48 that guts and gore and horrific plots weren’t horror movies).
Some good ones. Recommend any?
It reminds me of what a great natural beauty she was.
I like the older psychological movies. Just watched The Asylum from 1972 (British), written by Robert Bloch of Psycho fame.
I’ve SEEN that on Prime. Is it good?
I spent many years in Asia watching Asian movies.I used to do a series here called Asian Movie Weekend where I’d provide links to classic Kungfu or Hong Kong Comedy. I watch a lot of old movies but haven’t made a list of really good clips from bad or mediocre movies. Maybe I should
Drawn to this as a musician. You mentioned Mitchum. I have a collection of 45s somewhere in this mess, Rob Mitchum singing the Ballad of Thunder Road:. : The devil got him first” followed by a mean little guitar lick. if’n I didn’t have to go to work, I would be going full on ocd looking for it.
That movie is a masterpiece.
Angela Lansbury looks great at 90. She is scheduled to star in a Broadway revival of ‘The Chalk Garden’ in the 2017 - 2018 season.
I have to agree. The only scene in color has to be one of the most jolting in moviedom. I wasn’t ready for it!
Wow you still have drive-ins up there? I thought they were all gone by now.
I liked it, but I like all the old British Amicus Production movies from the 60s and 70s. I like all genres of movies for the most part.
She’s great in everything. Murder She Wrote was a great family series, and on Broadway as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd she was perfection. Her performance inThe Manchurian Candidate was one of the all time great evil women.
She’s a national treasure, IMHO!!
“Little Yellow Bird” is rom 1903.
After seeing that movie, Manchurian Candidate, I've never been able to watch any Angelia Lansbury performance. She traumatized me. Really!
I guess that's a sideways compliment.
She was only three years older than the actor who played her son, played by Laurence Harvey. She did a good job.
she always looked like an old lady.
