What would it do and where would it go when the earth and Mars are on opposite sides of the sun?At 3000 km/s it could go through the sun in just over seven minutes, so if it had a strong enough heat shield it wouldn't matter...

The pressure in the interior of the sun is strong enough to fuse hydrogen into helium. There is no possible structure that could withstand such pressure.
