Authorities are still investigating the cause of the wreck.
Watched the video, listening closely to the audio - no brainer what "the cause" was. The drunk/stoned/whatever goofball got loose - the cop got hysterical, went code 3 driving like a maniac to get to the jail in a hurry, was trying to watch the road and what was going on in the backseat at the same time, wiped out. VERY lucky the cop, offender or some innocent public weren't killed. What SHOULD have happened is the cop pulls over, waits for assistance, they re-secure the guy, take any toys away that could be a problem (like that lighter) and they go on their merry way to jail. Cop is guilty of weapons-grade stupidity.

Couldn’t help from bursting out laughing at the howler money flying through the back. Played it again just to see the moron disappear.
You’re right. The cop should get a stupidity ribbon for not frisking the ape and securing him. Thankfully, an innocent person wasn’t injured.

Where was suspect’s seatbelt? I can see big lawsuit for that omission by the police.

This instance just proves that every solo RPC should have a Trunk Monkey with the shotgun option.

The officer is in deep doo doo if he didn’t buckle him in. No doubt he could have taken it off before jumping the cuffs. This idiot kid just made a fortune of cash in a settlement.

Yeah - there is so much stupid to go around - didn't frisk the guy clean, didn't put the handcuffs on right - probably didn't even double lock them, panics when the guy gets loose, tries to drive warp speed for no real defensible reason, destroys a patrol unit, causes injuries, and if backseat monkey finds the right lawyer there's going to be additional legal problems. Cop will be lucky to still have a job by the time the dust settles.

Officer failed to properly handcuff the criminal. Left a lighter in the criminals possession and failed to use a seatbelt. The crook was lucky to still be alive and uninjured enough to try to escape. The officer needs a training course on being less like Andy Griffith.
