Fred Trump Taught His Son the Essentials of Showboating Self-Promotion
The New York Times ^ | August 12, 2016 | JASON HOROWITZ

Posted on 08/12/2016 10:36:08 AM PDT by yoe

The throngs of New Yorkers who poured into Coney Island on a sweltering Sunday in July 1939 — shuffling past the rides, hot-dog stands and freak shows — confronted one last spectacle blaring just beyond the surf.

At 65 feet and outfitted with enormous Trump signs, the yacht called the Trump Show Boat was hard to miss. And that was the point.

Its loudspeakers blasted recordings of “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” over and over, compelling many sunbathers, reluctant to be seen as unpatriotic, to stand and salute each time. When the boat floated swordfish-shaped balloons — redeemable for $25 or $250 toward a new Trump Home — toward the shore, bathers nearly rioted as they raced to snatch them up.

If this article had been about any of the Clintons, it would drip with flattering platitudes and other fluff.....instead, the article is about a very resourceful and successful American businessman...not the self-centered and cynical person article pertains to...Trump Sr. was the American picture of success in the business world...he inherited good genes and values and put them to work....Trump St. passed those values on to his children and those children have passed the same strong values on to the third generation of Trumps.

And who taught Hillary that self-enrichment at the expense of national security is a noble goal? Or that lying to the public (and even to bereaved mourners) about the nature of the Benghazi attack in order to promote a political agenda is acceptable behavior.

Trump is by no means Abraham Lincoln, but Hillary’s three decade history of lying, cheating, stealing, and obfuscating puts her in a different category from any other candidate in history. Those who claim that they hate Trump and will hold their nose and vote for Hillary may not have a free hand with which to pull the lever; both hands are needed to squeeze the nostrils to avoid the stench.

I had a business meeting with a homebuilder yesterday. Part of the conversation was his wondering about how to sell or re-use lumber cut-offs.

That’s smart business if you can do it at a profit or at least at less cost than the disposal costs.

Barack Obama taught his son the art of lying, doping, screwing-off, and living on the gov’t dole.

“redeemable for $25 or $250 toward a new Trump Home” .......................... That wasn’t peanuts back then. You could buy a 2 story house for $3500.

Sure, New York Times, no one else in American business has ever used the family name for a company or promoted the brand. Oh wait, they have:

From the Architectural League's Urban Omnibus:
The Tudor Plain

Tudor Revival row houses on East 31st Street at Avenue R, Brooklyn, in 1929

Fred Trump was the last great builder of the interwar years in outer-borough New York City. He did well enough in the 1920s, but really hit pay dirt in Depression-era Brooklyn, where he ably exploited a Federal Housing Administration program that insured mortgages. With federal winds filling his sails, Trump erected some 2,000 homes in the borough between 1935 and 1942 — in East Flatbush, Marine Park, Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, Brighton Beach... Trump’s houses were cozy, well made, and — more than anything — affordable even to working-class families....

from the web site of Thomas J. Campanella, "urbanist/historian/professor of city planning:

Feb. 14, 2016: FRED TRUMP’S BROOKLYN
(interactive map at site)

Fred C. Trump, Donald Trump’s father, was the biggest residential developer in Brooklyn in the 1930s and 1940s, and one of the most prolific in the United States. He erected thousands of modest row houses and apartment buildings in East Flatbush, Marine Park, Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Gravesend and Bath Beach. His homes were well-built and affordable, largely due to economies of scale. Known as the Henry Ford of housing, Trump applied techniques of mass production to residential construction long before William Levitt and Levittown. His largest projects were always located near rapid transit (a 1941 bus strike convinced him never to rely on surface transit). Trump’s early homes were exquisitely-scaled “brick bungalows” designed in the popular Tudor style, while those built after World War II were exclusively Modernist. His most trusted architects were outsiders to the mainstream profession–“Miami Modernist” Morris Lapidus and Irving Seelig and his partner Harry Finkelstein.

I read their comment section from time to time. I think they are all trolls cheering one another on, and are indelicately vomiting hatred for Trump in every other line. The comments read like they are automatically generated. You wonder. They all have the same tone.
