What a very sad situation for the family to witness. Prayers for the family.

Here is an eyewitness statement. He tried to see if there was anything he could do but the lifeguards were holding people back because there was nothing they could do. I can't even imagine, how terrible and sad.

The meme being pushed on this story is that those low down, no good, dastardly GOP lawmakers in Kansas have lax regulations on these rides. In particular, writers are bemoaning the fact that this ride is only required to be inspected once a year.

Never let a crisis go to waste, I suppose.

But wait - they could have inspected this ride every day, and it wouldn’t have prevented this. There is a fundamental issue with the physics of the ride, and having an inspector look for rusted bolts every day would not have fixed that.

So beware the sleight of hand, when liberals stand on this dead boy’s body and denounce ‘deregulation’.

They usually let kids on when they reached a certain height. But I went on a few rides with my kids and they were thin and it looked like they were going to slip thru the safety bars.

Apparently a woman sitting behind him had a broken jaw.
if you spend time looking around, the decapitation is well known.

For once I have to admire them for their restraint. Somethings really are not the public’s business. Especially in the hours after when those close to the boy are still finding out and reeling from his death.

“What part of the body do you think generally gets injured in a decapitation?”

Injured and removed are not the same thing.

I read someone where that the age to go on this ride is 14. So how did a 10 year old wind up on it?

I was on a small roller coaster once. There was a young boy and his mom behind me. He slipped under the safety bar. I spent the entire ride reaching back and holding him down.

The person, who is not authorized to speak about the boy’s death, told The Associated Press....

***
Then why is he blabbing?

Looking at this photo, I'm guessing after he came out of the harness, he flew upward and his neck hit one of the metal hoops above.

Looking at other articles and eyewitnesses to this tragedy, it does appear the metal support bars are what he hit to cause his death.

Horrific.

Off topic but I am actually a little surprised that ISIS hasn't used the maid of steel, from the Long Ships.

Damn I still feel sorry for the poor guy they picked to demonstrate it to the Viking crew.

May God give comfort to the family and friends of the little boy.

According to reports this ride was not even inspected by the state. Some sort of loop hole from what I have heard.

It’s the public’s business if the death happens on a public ride.

Then you really don’t want to read the gleeful leftists on Twitter celebrating this.

Any ride involving a jerky, precipitous drop can result in neck-snapping, whiplash-like injuries.
There is a certain force ratio that should not be exceeded. I’m sure an engineer will be brought in as an expert witness to testify about that in the lawsuit.
Unless there’s a quick settlement, as in the Disney World Alligator case.
