Gökhan Acikkoglu was, until very recently, a teacher in Turkey. Nobody expected that he would die eight days after a small part of the Turkish army staged a (failed) coup. Yet, that's exactly what happened.
After the failed coup Gökhan was arrested by the authorities. Of course, he didn't have anything to do with the coup. After the all, the power grab was carried out by members of the military. Gökhan was sitting at home when it all happened and was just hoping he would be able to continue to teach his students the knowledge they need to succeed in life.
Sadly for Gökhan, the authorities had already added him to a list of supposed supporters of Fethullah Gülen, the Islamic scholar accused by President Erdogan of being the mastermind behind the coup. When the president started his purge, Gökhan was quickly arrested.
After a while, Gökhan fell sick due to diabetes and "harsh treatment," meaning abuse and even torture. He was brought to a hospital, but the doctors gave the go-ahead. He was brought back to detention.
On July 23, Gökhan -- a teacher who was minding his own business when he was arrested -- died. He was seriously ill and "badly wounded."
That's bad enough, but this story gets even worse.
After his death, and without any conviction, Gökhan was declared "a traitor." As a result, he was denied a funeral service. He will be buried in the so-called "Grave of the Traitors" (a mass grave created by the government for military soldiers part of the coup).
As his father says in the video below, the authorities aren't allowing Gökhan's family to bury him in a normal grave in Istanbul...

Where is the outrage? There isn't any.
All accounts are being cleared. He may have been controversial in his teaching or perhaps someone in the APK party just had a personal vendetta with him. Surely, there will be thousands of these stories.
Take it up with Obama and the rest of the sob stories of Muslim on Muslim violence. Obama stated that Erdogan should be obeyed.
It's OK, the torture equipment was Obama supplied, and it's use was NATO approved.
Didn’t one of Obama or Hillary’s mentors say killing 20 million American’s who wouldn’t go along with the new order an acceptable price for the remaking of society? Sounds like the American left and Erdogan have something in common.
0bama supports the resurrection of the Ottoman Empire or in this case the Estrogen Empire ... anything to advance the Islamic cause and restoration of Islamic hegemony over the known world again.
0bama not only hates the US and Israel, but hates everything not Islamic and not in the koran.
All I care about in Turkey is the Incirlik airbase and the nukes. Not one story all week. Total news blackout, not good.
Bill Ayers and friends.
Erdogan might be becoming Pol Pot
Erdogan has his lists.
Obama has his lists.

Muzzies seize power after an 80 year hiatus.
THAT’S ALL, FOLKS!
I'm generally for torture in certain circumstances, but I would NEVER torture a Coup. That's just mean.
+1. The media looks the other way, as usual. Its outrage is selective.
Can someone document this? Where is a reference?
I have seen in the social media, Hillary supporters expressing glee over the coming pogrom--they are looking forward to when all the conservatives are rounded up and put into camps. (No doubt, the camps will have "showers.")
Perhaps hitting up the social media with well-documented quotes from the Hillary camp about how it is worth killing a few million people to get a "perfect" society would help to make some fuzzy liberals realize that there is nothing compassionate about the left.
Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground.
Erdogan, like Obama, is a Sunni Muslim.
That's really all we need to know to determine how Obama will deal with Turkey. It will be Hands Off or Assistance When Requested.
Kick Turkey out NATO? You gotta be kidding.
I remember people here would talk up the military. The troops were so badass, brave, smart yada yada. Nope.
Your post is no exaggeration. We who stand in the way of social justice are evil. Any means used to eliminate evil is therefore good.
