I’ve heard that the world wide web is actually just one part of the internet. People used these terms interchangeably, but , I’ve heard that the web is just one part of the internet structure.

That is true. The World Wide Web is kind of the GUI for the internet, which had already existed for years before the WWW. The internet should be thought of as the infrastructure of sending data from node to node. Software applications are built on top of that layer. WWW and browsers simply use the infrastructure to display information graphically across the internet.

Email used the internet before the WWW, as well as file transfer protocols like FTP. There was a bulletin board application called Usenet, which had a lot of forums, some not unlike Free Republic.

It's true. The "Web" is just the world of web browsers talking to each other, and browsers are just a kind of app on the internet which mainly communicate through the HTML language.

Yes, the internet includes much more and pre-dates the world wide web by many years..
. the web is the “graphic” component in HTML code.

You heard right. Various levels of data communications occur over the Internet. When one pings a distant location, that's using the lower levels of the Internet. Been around for decades, the WWW is a recent addition to the Internet at the higher levels. When I first started using the WWW after it came out, I got yelled at by an instructor (probably at Microsoft) because I turned off the graphics to obtain a text only feed without ads, because the graphics were so darn slow in the early 1990s. Instructor complained that those ads were supporting the cost of the WWW and were enabling it to grow. To this day, I'm still blocking graphic ads that slow down my access to web pages.
