4100 American women a year die from cervical cancer. This vaccine prevents it IF given before they start the boy girl thing.
It shouldn’t ever, under any circumstances be mandatory, but its a good thing.

Of course, ill be flooded with people that say it isn’t fully effective, ignoring that many people miss the window and don’t get it until they are already kissing and making out.
Then we’ll be treated to the “keep your pants up” crowd. There are too many people who ignorantly think its implying that your daughter will be sexually active then they tell us about their daughters being raised right...etc.
Kids kissing spread it just as well.

Basically, if used right, it can prevent death by cervical cancer which some people have had touch their lives. It shouldn’t be mandatory, but its a good development.

Good points, plus there’s something many people don’t realize: women who are virgins on their wedding nights can get cervical cancer...and die from it, so the “keep your pants up” argument is not relevant. It has been known for decades that the most common form of cervical cancer is sexually transmitted and that it if you sleep with even just one man who carries the virus, you inevitably will get cervical cancer. I know a woman who was a virgin when she got married (to man who was ten years older than she was). This was fifty years ago, and there was no question the woman had been a virgin when she got married. Eventually she died of cervical cancer. When her husband remarried, he married a woman who had left the convent only a few years before. Eventually, she died of cervical cancer. Both of these women were “good girls”.

To put your number in perspective here are the most current total deaths by sex.

Nearly 75% of all deaths in the US are attributed to just 10 causes, with the top 3 of these accounting for over 50% of all deaths. Over the last five years, the main causes of death in the US have remained fairly consistent, although unintentional injuries (accidents) became the fourth leading cause of death in 2013, while stroke became the fifth.

The most recent data (2013) reveals that annually there were 2,596,993 deaths registered in the US....

1,306,034 males

1,290,959 females

You know how to do the numbers. Explain why the entire population of young girls should be put at risk from side effects to possibly reduce that 4,100 cervical cancer death total.

This vaccine would not have prevented 4100 deaths, even if given at the right time. The data I've read on Gardasil states that it only vaccinates against 4 (6, 11, 16, and 18) of the 40 known types of HPV. Of the four, 16 and 18 have been determined by the CDC to cause roughly 66% of cervical cancers in any given year (and 60% of all cancers related to HPV). There is a newer product, Gardasil 9, that adds HPV types 31, 33, 45, 52, and 58 to the original 4. These additional 5 variants are determined to cause an additional 15% of cervical cancers, and 10% of other cancers - source - http://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/hpv-gardasil-9-hcp-info.pdf.

CDC Information - http://www.cdc.gov/cancer/hpv/statistics/cases.htm

GARDASIL information - http://www.gardasil.com/hpv-and-your-child/what-is-hpv/.

That being said, it should be up to the parents/individuals on who gets the vaccine, not the government.

The above number doesn’t even cover the number of people who are “cured” of it - after debilitating treatments and/or the knife, both of which can be life-changing and/or limiting.

EVERY vaccine might have a very adverse affect on a very small number of people. Settlements for this are built into the price. Not much of a comfort if that’s you or a loved one affected, but the odds are very, very low.
