It’s a miracle that the car wasn’t stolen. If you read the article, the woman left the car RUNNING so the dogs could have the a/c on. Could have turned out a lot worse, with a stolen car and stolen dogs.

As others have observed, it usually requires a combination of actions to take a vehicle out of PARK. That small dog almost certainly could not have pulled that off.

The woman almost certainly left the car in NEUTRAL-- (or, even, DRIVE)...

Old and distracted... (It even appears she left the doors unlocked...)

Question.
When applying for a driver’s license, is the dog’s age calculated in dog years or human years?

No. Just proves the dog was too small. My Great DAne would have had no problem.

I guess all vehicles don't require that.(foot on brake). Both of my vehicles have to have the brake depressed, but my 1964 Plymouth Fury with a push-button transmission certainly doesn't.

He was given a breathalyzer and shown to have dog breath. I also don’t want to stir up a hornets nest here but as someone else pointed out there are actually two dogs. The black dog appears to be in the driver’s seat. We may have some kind of profiling going on here.

A few years ago I stopped by my church to drop some catering supplies off. I brought my dog along, cracked the windows and went inside to visit for just a few moments. The car horn started honking in even increments and all of the little old ladies thought I had left my mother-in-law in the car. We all walked outside and my dog, a basset hound named Georgie, had his left paw on the car horn. We were all laughing and everytime I turned to look at the ladies and try to talk, you could see Georgie’s left-arm tense up and push the car horn. He did it every time I stopped looking at him and we were all screaming. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen in my life!

Have you left him in the car since then? That’s funny that he knew to honk the horn for your attention

I have bUT usally he jus chills. He looked almost like a person as you could see his shoulder and elbow tense and push the horn while he was watching us. I almost collapsed from laughing and had tears running down my face. Everyone was laughing just as hard because everytime I turned, he would honk. Georgie is a trip!!!!!
