When I use tap water to rinse out the bottom of the popcan so the recycle bin doesn’t get sticky, do I waste more than I save?

According to my local “recycling “experts. Yes.
We are encouraged not to rinse as it wastes water.

It’s not just rinsing out pop cans. I use lots of water to clean my tin cans and aluminum cat food cans. Often cleaning up items for recycling takes too much water.
