Sign the Whitehouse.Gov petition to sanction Ginsburg
Whitehouse.Gov ^ | July 14, 2016 | Self

The Code of Conduct for United States Judges, Cannon 5, states: "A Judge Should Refrain from Political Activity (A) General Prohibitions. A judge should not: . . . (2) make speeches for a political organization or candidate, or publicly endorse or oppose a candidate for public office . . . "

Whether or not you agree with Justice Ginsburg's remarks about Donald Trump, Ginsburg's public opposition to Trump is a violation of Cannon 5. These rules need to apply to ALL judges and justices, or they are meaningless.

I do not call for Ginsburg's impeachment or removal - merely a public sanction.

It’s not up to the Executive.

I can’t sign it. A sanction isn’t enough. Ginsberg should be impeached. Why a slap on the wrist for the woman who would throw the election if she had a chance?

You’re not going to get an impeachment . . ever

Sanction is the appropriate remedy

No, it isn’t up to the executive, but Congress can still act on these petitions

How is sanction a remedy? If she’s still involved in decisions, any remedy is a farce.

I find I pretty ridiculous that all these pols are shocked that RBG is political. The Supreme Court has been political since at least the Bork nomination. It’s a joke to pretend otherwise, and just allows Democrat presidents to get their nomination confirmed. Democrats understand this and treat nominations as political battles. Pubs maintain the fiction so they can confirm liberal justices.

Ah, she’s a frail old lady, and her temper got the better of her. Let her be, she’s had long years of service, and it is a pity she has blotted her copybook at this stage of the game. Her little tantrum made it possible that she must recuse herself from anything concerning Trump hereafter which is a plus.

The White House (i.e., the Executive Branch) cannot sanction anyone in the Judiciary.

The proper thing to do is what I did yesterday. I wrote a letter to my U.S. Representative quoting the Article III, Section 1 of the U.S. Constitution which states: “The Judges, of both the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Office during good Behaviour...”

I reminded my Representative that Justice Ginsburg’s comments violate Canon 5 of the Judicial Code of Ethics which amounts to Bad Behaviour.

I also quoted Article 1, Section 2 of the Constitution of the United State which states: “The House of Representatives ... shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.”

I concluded by demanding he introduce Articles of Impeachment against Justice Ginsburg.

One of the categories is “Call on Congress to act on an issue.”

The WH can’t sanction Ginsburg, but they can call on the congress to do so
