Scottish school leavers are being squeezed out of university by SNP government policies and the situation will get worse for middle-class children, according to an official report published amid warnings of an impending Brexit funding crisis.

Audit Scotland found that a cap on places for Scottish and EU students, imposed so that free tuition is affordable to the public purse, has not kept pace with the increasing number of applications.

Its report said this meant it has become “more difficult” for Scottish youngsters to win a place and warned that implementing Nicola Sturgeon’s plan to “widen access” to more youngsters from poor backgrounds “will have consequences for other groups of students.”

Achieving the First Minister’s targets without funding more places for Scottish students will “likely” mean fewer youngsters from wealthier families will be offered a university place, it warned. …

So much for “free college for all.” Sounds like they’re offering “free college for those least likely to benefit from it.”

Hows about cutting useless govt bureaucrats, and trimming back your pensions and benies?

You know, for the children.

Most youngsters going to college/university these days have no business doing so.

A solid trades school system would benefit them and their nations’ economies.

The entire “west” is plagued with worthless “higher” education systems.

Adam Smith is gnashing his teeth at how his own people have forgotten all the valuable lessons that he taught them.

Note that it is Scottish tuition free university they are talking about.

The rest of the UK does not have free universities and the Scots are doing it on the with the excess (more received than they send in) of money they get from London.

If the UK had a vote on Scottish independence and all of the UK votes, it would be a easy vote for “Scots Out”....:^)
