Symantec and Norton products on ALL platforms including Macs have major security holes. If you use them, my advice is dump them and get something better. On a Mac, go without. — PING!

The latest Apple/Mac/iOS Pings can be found by searching Keyword "ApplePingList" on FreeRepublic's Search.

I was never comfortable with that aspect of their products and they are resource hogs anyway.

There are way better products on the market that don’t cost as much and are more robust.

Hi Swordmaker,

I would expand that slightly: "...on your OS X partitions, go without. If you use BootCamp or have a Windows VM, protect Windows and get something better than Symantec."

It's surprising how often I have to remind a user who runs Windows in a VM that virtualization does NOT convey protection against malware.

We might be the only two people here who like Norton... I’m OK with that...

Serious security flaws, in the security software - ANDROID PING!

Android Ping!
If you want on or off the Android Ping List, Freepmail me.

I'm really aghast at this. Not just at the vulnerability, but that a company that was created and built around security would be so reckless and not follow accepted best practices for software security.
