Noel Neill, the first actress to play Supermans gal pal Lois Lane onscreen, died July 3 in Tucson, Ariz. after a long illness. Her manager and biographer Larry Ward shared a statement on Facebook, saying that she maintained that bright, perky and engaging personality up until her death.
Her first appearance as Lois Lane was in the 1948 movie serial Superman, which showed her talent for humor. She then appeared in the sequel Atom Man vs Superman. The 1950s television series Adventures of Superman, starring George Reeves, gave her a longtime role as the intrepid reporter, and she said later in interviews that she simply played herself.
She returned several times to appear in Superman films playing Lois Lanes mother in the 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman, appearing in the Superboy series and in the Brandon Routh-starrer 2006 Superman Returns.

Noel Neill
RIP
She was not the first, she replaced the first actress in the series. But she was a very sweet lady I met her a few years ago.
Can still her perky voice talking to Jimmy and Clark.lol
This is WAY off the beaten track, but did anyone know there was a silent “The Wizard of Oz”? and it was supposed to be pretty spooky.
Gee Miss Lane.
Oops she was the first in the movies, didn’t know. She replaced someone in the later tv series.
RIP.
RIP.....Jimmy should have picked up on Lois from the beginning.....hang around with her,and you’re life was in constant danger.
She was one of my early crushs saw some of her online interviews nice lady
Almost everyone knows the story about Buddy Ebsen and the silver paint reaction that kept him from the part of the Tin Woodsman in the The Wizard of Oz we all know. But did you know we still hear him in the movie? The song “We’re Off To See The Wizard” was already done and left in the movie as is, with Ebsen singing.
DID NOT know that.
The woodsman they ended up with was great :)
All those years with Clark Kent and she was still fooled by him taking off his glasses. :)
RIP
When I think of Lois Lane it is her face that comes to mind.
Also there has never been a Jimmy Olsen who could even touch the one in the same series. In fact all the others seem particularly lame.
I believe there were several silent versions.

I rented the Wizard of Oz DVD and it came with a bunch of extras. It included three older B&W versions. Two were pretty lame but one was remarkably similar to the 1939 version.
Enough so that I am sure the writers had seen it.
Who the @#$ is Prime Minister Kruel??
Where’s the farm?
