A drunken-driving suspect involved in a crash that killed a couple from The Colony on their motorcycle won't face manslaughter charges in the case, authorities say.

Jeremy and Stephanie Byington, both 42, were riding together April 6 when they collided with a sport utility vehicle that police say ran a red light at Plano Parkway and State Highway 121.

Apparently, the killer has good connections. What struck me most about the story is that they won't even tell us the name of the driver of the SUV. He (or She) has been charged with drunk driving, ran a red light, and is being allowed to skate for killing two people, but his or her reputation is so important, they won't even link a name to the event.

“A no bill means the grand jury determined there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the driver for intoxication manslaughter. The district attorney’s office will now pursue a DWI charge and will release the driver’s name once a warrant is issued.”

It’s either another Judge, politician or an illegal.

Any other citizen doing this would have the book thrown at him or her.

Or has political connections. We are now a Banana Republic. Laws only apply to peons and serfs. The Elite are exempt from said laws.

So the DA took a dive at the grand jury level. They will lift the embargo on the name when the story is no longer news.

Normally in Texas, that’s a 20 year sentence. Obviously money changed hands.

The driver won't be identified until he's arrested, authorities said.

Well, it's a he. Course, today, that may not be exactly true.

Slip through a minor charge, get a quiet guilty plea to insulate the perp from charges on the serious crime. Then make a public record of the misdemeanor plea, and everyone wins except the victims and public.

Should be easy for someone to ferret out. Was a vehicle towed? Wouldn’t a police report say so? By whom? Where? Tow Co. records would likely have license plate...ID easy from there.

The intersection is in The Colony. the police department there doesn’t do on-line reports - you have to go in person. If it had been in Plano, getting a report would have been easy.
