Lauda has to be kidding. I remember seeing a BBC documentary on just how dangerous Formula 1 racing was until at least the late 1970's--not one, but multiple drivers would die per year from horrible accidents with essentially unsafe cars and equally unsafe race tracks. You'd think Lauda would be pushing for maximum safety given he was nearly killed in a race accident in 1976.

Indeed, if we had the Halo head protection system back in the early 1990's, there's a good chance one Aryton Senna would be alive today.
