I think it was a trick to deprive us of the audio.

I wonder if the audio recording still exists.

The Republicans should have immediately pushed a bill demanding that the audio data be preserved and made public as soon as possible.

The Democrats would have voted against it, which would have been a fine demonstration of what they're about.

But of course that would have taken intelligence, which our side has none of.
