On Sunday, the Rev. Nancy Kraft will deliver her last sermon as pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Charlottes Plaza Midwood neighborhood, where the motto is Loving Not Judging.
Shes leaving the Queen City after 18 years to become senior pastor at Ascension Lutheran Church in Towson, Md. She offers her candid thoughts on her proudest moment here, what she wont miss about Charlotte, and what needs to change.
The Observer caught up with Kraft to ask her these questions and more before she heads north along with her dog Pooky and her cat Father Guido Sarducci.
A Hamilton, Ohio, native, Kraft, 63, first came to Charlotte in 1998 to serve at Advent Lutheran Church in University City. But since 2005, shes been pastor at Holy Trinity a position from which she emerged as a high-profile minister and champion of the citys LGBT community. Kraft is not gay herself, but she became one of the clergy plaintiffs in a lawsuit that led a federal judge to rule in 2014 that North Carolinas ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.

ELCA. ‘nuff said.
Good riddance. Too bad that she has already done her damage.
How can she be a pastor if she’s a woman?
I read the article:
0: Number of times God mentioned
0: Number of times Jesus Mentioned
0: Number of times Christianity mentioned
More that I wanted to take the time to count: Mentions of homosexuality, places to eat, celebrities.
Wow.
Another carpetbagger come here to make Charlotte into a cesspit.
More like: How can she be a pastor if she’s not a Christian?
I’m confused. “Loving, not judging.” But in the lightening round especially, she sure did a lot of judging.
That’s okay by liberal double standards; in her mind, she’s properly judging all the “bad” people and things.
She sounds more like a progressive liberal than a Lutheran. How in the world did she ever become a pastor of an entire church?? Seems the Lutherans have fallen far away from Christ and His church.
Lots of time given to her petty traffic annoyances too. It’s hard to believe people place themselves under the empty and worthless spiritual leadership of these types, but I guess they give the people what they want and tell them what they want to hear.
This lady’s is every bit as Christian as Anton Levay.
She can't but the denominations like to make believe. This woman is an abomination.
Yep I noticed that too. She seems fixated on homosexual marriage.
She has a mannish appearance. She has grown children but no mention of a husband. She’s probably lesbian, couldn’t countenance living with a man but doesn’t want to say so openly. Then again she’s got this great affinity for homosexuality and pushing homosexual marriage. Something doesn’t add up here.
Is homosexuality punishment for something else...
the person or persons did?
21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools ...
24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie,and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creatorwho is forever praised.Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know Gods righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

If we know it to be wrong and don’t say something...do we approve and deserve death? *
You beat me to it. Pathetic.
