Last time I checked Obama is the leader of the Democrats.

Being president doesn't make one leader of the party. Top figurehead, yes, but not necessarily the leader.

I think that’s likely what Trump is thinking.

That will be opposed by those who suspect that Leftists inside gov’t agencies will find some way to expand that power to strip a huge swath of Americans of their right to own guns.

The problem is, who controls the “no fly/terrorist watch lists?

Som democrats have already stated that anyone who owns a gun, especially veterans, are “potential terrorists”.

Obama could order DHS to put anyone, and everyone he chooses to be put on the lists.

It’s still a back door to gun confiscation. Cun confiscation for law abiding people means genocide for Americans. The crooks and the terrorists are going to get any guns they want. And we’ll stand unarmed.

IANA Constitutional scholar, but isn’t tying gun rights to the no-fly list “deprivation of rights under color of authority?”

Because the no-fly list, itself, might be legal, but using it to deny rights is overstepping.

I haven’t noticed a single Democrat disowning Obama.

Who do you think is the leader of the Democratic Party right now?

If Trump goes with banning AR-15s I’m not voting for him. The country is gone and along with God, the 2nd Amendment is the only hope we have.

I think we all agree that you have quick recourse to have a hearing.

I thought if you’re a convicted felon, you can’t own a gun.

The fact that the man is talking, listening means a lot as opposed to the @sshat, thin skinned one who does things by presidential edict.

You may be seeing more and more of this the next four plus months. We are headed for trouble and we asked for it.

I don’t disagree with your first point, but that’s not what I said.

Valerie Jarrett clearly is pulling Owe-bama’s puppet strings, so she would be his leader, right? That doesn’t make her leader of the democrat party, either, does it?

One could argue, and would be correct, IMO, in saying Debbie Wasserbagz Schultz is the head (leader) of the democrat party.

See Post 12. Read what Cox of the NRA says in the lead article.

He knows the difference. This is just nickcarraway seizing yet another opportunity to try to trash Trump. It’s the diehard Cruzaholic-Hillary alliance.

Nikos - he’s demonstrating great leadership today - something will actually get done for once. Even the most ardent 2a person after reading what the FBI knew about Mateen has to help find the right due process/safety answer. No one wants Jihadis to buy U.S. guns and ruin this wonderful 1a/2a combination for the rest of us.

We are happy to meet with Donald Trump. The NRA’s position on this issue has not changed. The NRA believes that terrorists should not be allowed to purchase or possess firearms, period. Anyone on a terror watchlist who tries to buy a gun should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI and the sale delayed while the investigation is ongoing. If an investigation uncovers evidence of terrorist activity or involvement, the government should be allowed to immediately go to court, block the sale, and arrest the terrorist,” the executive director of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action, Chris W. Cox said in the statement Wednesday. “At the same time, due process protections should be put in place that allow law-abiding Americans who are wrongly put on a watchlist to be removed. That has been the position of Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Tex.) and a majority of the U.S. Senate. Sadly, President Obama and his allies would prefer to play politics with this issue.”

I’d say it’s quite clear that Obama is both the figurehead and the leader of the Democratic Party.

Valerie Jarret works for him. Debbie Wasserbagz Schultz is no more the leader of the Democrats than Reince Priebus is the leader of the Republicans.

You are an idiot. I was never a Cruz supportee. In fact, I was attacked for criticism of Cruz.

I agree that it’s good Trump is having these discussions.

I just hope he’s very careful with our freedom.

And I agree that we can’t be rid of the jackass currently in the whitehouse fast enough.

He’s talking to the right people about it - many getting their panties in a twist trying to find a reason to join Ryan/Cruz/McConnell/Hillary/MSM and others who fear a Trump Presidency because he will take the “PC-Fear-Factor” out of politics and open up some true public discourse....

Well thanks for the compliment nick, being called an idiot by you isn’t exactly an insult. It just tells me that I hit a bullseye.

I may have mis-identified you as a Cruz supporter but there is no doubt that you are a diehard Trump hater so it’s really a distinction without a difference.
