I think his point was that Trump IS the only hope. His threat is against current elected GOP that either support or tolerate the insane proposal to torpedo Trump at the convention. If the nevertrumpers succeed, Hitlery wins no matter what we do. But if it will be thus, then those traitorous bastards are going down too.

I'm with the author. If Trump is not the nominee then screw it. Not only am I not voting R but I'll probably vote d (or minor parties such as libertarian or green). Sorry, but the only way out at that point is try to start brushing off the parasites even if there are more parasites waiting their turn.

People who don’t watch rallies as often as we do have no idea.

Someone actually said to me something similar to what Pauline Kael famously said about Nixon: “People don’t like Trump.” This guy was obviously a prisoner of the MSM.

Clue: Trump has criticized the press. Therefore, what the world is hearing from the press is even more vile than usual when a Republican is running. And therefore Trump’s political opponents—the GOPe—also think they have the power to win.

This all works in Trump’s favor. They are all in their own little echo chamber about how terrible and disliked Trump is. I shouldn’t even post this. Let them continue the delusion!

Waiting for the ‘if you dont vote for the GOP candidate then you’re voting dem’ crowd to show up.

They'll show up as soon as they cash their check from the GOP machine.

GOP the other half of the DNC.

Well-stated. Uniparty eunuchs.

We are no longer representatives and citizens. We are ruler and ruled.

First, it isn’t going to happen anyway. Unless Trump voluntarily quits, he is going to be the nominee.

Second, they think they are going to lose WITH Trump at the top of the ticket, so your threat is pretty meaningless.

Third, the smarter ones will have already figured out that if Trump is destined to lose badly (as they believe) because he is an awful general election candidate, it is better that there be no excuses. No 3rd parties, no trying to replace him as the nominee, etc. If Trump goes on to get crushed, as much conventional wisdom holds, then his brand of populist/protectionism will be driven from the party.

There will be no coup at the convention. Trump is the nominee.

After all of this, I absolutely despise 95% of the GOP. I used to vote GOP down the line figuring they were better than the Dem. Never again. In a lot of ways, I’m glad all of these folks have been flushed out.

I live in OH and can’t bring myself to vote for my current GOP House rep, nor will I vote for Rob Portman. It will be a short ballot for me this year.

In my mind the GOP is finished as a party. Based upon their behavior, they will lose the Senate and are probably only one term away from losing the House based upon Paul Ryan’s losership.

If the GOPe pulls something and does not nominate Trump, I’ll still vote for Dave Brat because he has stayed true to his word.

I’ll vote against every other Republican running.

They seem to be intent to invent a new phenomenon

It was pretty clear to me that neither McCain nor Romney had any intention of actually winning. It is also clear that the GOP does not want to actually win this time either.

A deal has been struck and We The People are not part of it.

Good on you!

I did the same. We had a decent chance of taking back the governors office in Washington state - right up til the pubbie candidate weasel-worded on the phag marriage issue. He lost big.

He and the former head of the Washington state pubbie party are campaigning for state offices but both of them condemned Trump.

I sent them word that I would not only not vote for them but campaign for their opposition if they didn’t get in line. They know me from the local campaigns that I worked on. It remains to be seen whether or not they call my bluff but I’m eager to take them both down.

Sadly, the GOPe is content to lose & keep their faces in the public trough.

The GOP’s globalist uniparty would rather have Hillary (one of their own) than Trump (someone threatening the status quo) so they don’t care if we vote or not.

They would rather we not vote and be sidelined as in all the recent preceding elections. If they are going to play this game, just put Demonrats in their uniparty Senate seats. It’s won’t make a difference.

Donald Trump is already the CIC of the legitimate citizens of the United States of America. If a DC nest of thieving socialist traitors and their compromised dependents deny he is our President in a kangaroo election decided by illegitimate means, we can either march forward or surrender. The armed forces, despite the gay Kenyan’s best efforts, is still decidedly conservative.

Fair points - a few comments:

“Second, they think they are going to lose WITH Trump at the top of the ticket, so your threat is pretty meaningless.”

It’s hard to tell what they ‘think’ versus what they fear. The line about Trump losing big was obviously b.s., when he had the small lead a couple of weeks ago - and they were still plotting, so I don’t believe that angle for a moment.

“Third, the smarter ones will have already figured out that if Trump is destined to lose badly (as they believe) because he is an awful general election candidate, it is better that there be no excuses. No 3rd parties, no trying to replace him as the nominee, etc. If Trump goes on to get crushed, as much conventional wisdom holds, then his brand of populist/protectionism will be driven from the party.”

I agree with that.

“There will be no coup at the convention. Trump is the nominee.”

I tend to think so...but then again these are Republican Leaders talking this way.

AGREE! on Brat, great guy and even if he fought Trump’s removal, he would be ignored. But for the other 99.7% of country, having people to vote for will be few and far between.

“Great. How many of these GOP people will read this thread?”

I suspect quite a few do at least glance through this...we’ve had FReepers outed at high levels (such as Congressional staff leads) in the past and actually lose their jobs over their postings.
