Donald Trumps rise has fueled an identity crisis of sorts for the Republican Party and now, the GOP is seeking the publics help defining what the party of 2016 represents.

I would submit a couple of ideas to Trumps website, but Don’t trust RNC
The identity crisis was there long before Donald came along.
My stuff would be mostly wonky 10th amendment strengthening, some of which our candidate has touched on.
We’re tired of platforms, policies and promises that are never kept by the GOP. They never do what they say they’re going to do. So we’re not interested in anymore talk; only actions speak.
The GOP controls both houses of congress but has done absolutely nothing with its majorities. Except talk.
Just use the 1952 GOP platform.
- Delete a bunch of agencies
- End harmful or useless regulations
- Fire the loafers who are coasting in their gov’t sinecures
- Throw the communists out of the State Department
Exactly right. The GOP has no credibility so its platform means nothing. And we’re tired of nothing.
And let us not forget the funding of O-care. They really listen to us? Really? Cover for their large cushions on which they currently sit.
That’s hilarious. It’s obvious from their kicking-and-screaming tantrums over a Trump candidacy that these people can’t see what’s in front of their nose. Any platform the GOPe approves of will be DOA with this elections voters, so they want us to design something that will keep us in the fold but means nothing in practice.
What it reminds me of is the RNC ‘surveys’ that ask what your hot buttons are. Then they design the next fund raising letter that you receive based on your biggest concerns. It’s like composing your own ransom demand for your own release. This silliness would be all good if they showed any inclination to govern according to the voter responses, but there is strangely no connection between what they vow and what they do.
How about a specific platform, outlining specific results, and a specific pledge to vacate their offices if they don’t produce? You’ll NEVER see that from them.
You’re exactly right. This whole thing is a ruse designed to con the base into voting for the scoundrels once again.
These people are nothing but a bunch of con men, knaves and liars.
Sort of a modified Contract with America.
It worked for Newt.
If the platform is to have any meaning, let Trump propose it. As he’s already suggested, it needs to be short and practical. Five to 10 meaningful items that he and others can run and win on, not a laundry list for martyrdom that will be ignored by Republicans and used by Democrats to beat up Republicans with.
Plank #1: Stop the flood of illegal aliens into America.
Plank #2: Get rid of the illegal aliens already in America.
Plank #3: Abandon birthright citizenship and retroactively strip citizenship from people born to illegal aliens (and then kick them out as well).
Plank #4: Return .gov to Constitutional scale and function.
Their platform suggestions are pathetic.
How many times has cut spending been in the platform? When has the GOP come close to cutting spending? Same goes for a lot of other points in the platform. People can write whatever they want into the platform. The GOP will ignore it.
Yes, like a Contract with America instead of the current Contract with the Democrats.
