A British man has been given 22 life sentences after admitting 71 charges of sex abuse against children in Malaysia aged from six months to 12 years old.

I bet he won’t get along too well with the general population.
Prison is too good for this guy.
Seems like he'd have a strong in with the Muslim population of the prison.
This guy even had a blog where he said no one cared about these kids

Malaysia and Thailand want that sex tourism money.
I'd say hopefully this scum gets killed in prison, but getting killed would be letting him off easy. Keep in mind that there are people in the US who are trying to normalize this stuff.
That's why religious men --- all denominations --- figure large in this type of sex abuse: it's not that "Christians become perverts," it's that "perverts infiltrate Christian churches/organizations." That's how they are brought into contact with needy children and become trusted figures.

The man should be imprisoned, but this extra-jurisdictional trial and conviction worries me. Was what he did not a crime in Malaysia? That’s where he should have been tried and convicted.
But if this guy is,in fact,guilty as charged it sounds like the sentence is a bit on the lenient side.
Can't they do that?
Doesn't the U.K. have the option of "life without the possibility of parole"?
Because that's what he should get. And if that's not available, they need to shoot him. Swift, severe and certain.

When someone is sentenced to life in England and Wales, they have a minimum tarrif set by the judge which must be served before they’re eligable for parole. Generally speaking, you’d have to be a serial killer, a child killer or a cop killer to get a whole life tarriff. Your average common or garden murder on average gets a 15 year minimum tarriff until they’re eligable for parole.
It makes my head explode.
Six months? That indicates an enabler of some kind; six-month olds don’t wander around to be picked up and assaulted. That enabler deserves at least the same as the attacker!
It’s only a minimum tariff, if he doesn’t look like he is reforming or is still a danger to the public he will likely never be released.
Our department had to investigate a similar case. The perp had HOURS of video of him raping children in Thailand and other countries. He died from unspecified causes after just a couple of months in prison. Too bad, so sad...
Good to know. I do hope he’s in for life. I also hope he has a chance to repent from the heart. It will require a new heart.
