Half-Hearted Effort - Thousands of agencies fail to file any hate crimes

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS:
In a remarkably obtuse article Christine Cassidy of the AP writes about the dearth of hate crimes reported by governmental agencies at all levels. She asked the question, "Why do some agencies not file reports with the FBI?" Her answer was that reasons vary. Some agencies thought they had submitted the information and others were unsure that they had to report because they had not had any hate crimes in their jurisdiction.

She missed two very obvious reasons. First, a very high proportion of hate crimes are hoaxes. Second, the perpetrators of almost all the rest are minorities and the victims are white. Since, Obama made it very clear that hate crimes committed by minorities would not be prosecuted by his administration what is the point of reporting them? It would be an exercise in futility.

Ms. Cassidy is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

(Could some friendly Freeper post a link to this article?)

This appears to be the AP/Cassidy story which you summed up very well

Was the San Bernardino Massacre declared a hate crime?

If not, the whole concept of ‘hate crime’ is BS.
We would be punished for our thoughts, like obama is trying to do with anyone who criticizes ‘global warming’.

I think the Feds declined to call it a hate crime. Employees all gathered together for a celebration? Sounds like workplace violence, not a hate crime!

Of course, the entire concept of a hate crime is absurd. It criminalizes thought and is not equally applied.
