Why is it OK to praise a "Wise Latina" judge but not criticize a biased Mexican one?

Posted on 06/04/2016 4:55:26 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Another thing up for discussion, if anyone is interested.

I heard more screeching criticism of Trump for saying the pro-illegal immigrant Hispanic judge on his civil case is being unfair. According to the crying in the media, Trump is wrong for pointing out the judge may have a bias.

But a few years ago, all the media could do regarding the SCOTUS nominee, named by Valerie's man child, S Sotomayor, was point out she was a LATINA who was "wise".

I would question that--the Republicans rolled over in fear at her nomination--but isn't it a little two faced to say a Latina is "wise", but not suggest a Hispanic could be a poor judge?

Nah. Latina/os are always wise, judicious and fair. The Solomons of American jurisprudence.

One major factor involved here is that DT has an interest in a case before the judge.

Because shut up and pay your taxes while you’re deliberately made a minority in your own country, Cracker.

This is where Trump has trapped the left: The judge in question unambiguously self-identifies as Hispanic in his professional associations.

He is a member of a racist clique of lawyers and other judges who openly (indeed proudly) work to advance the interests of flow Hispanics.

It is true that if you are white you are becoming a minority or is it a false claim?

Not wise to make angry one who sits in judgment of you. However I feel Trump is just trying to get ahead of the narrative.

Trump's calling an American a Mexican.

Look, the guy apparently belongs to La Raza -- we know what he's about. But Trump can't be honest about it.

Trump should be talking about the terrible economy, not whining about the judge assigned to the Trump U case.

Those people who identify themselves as "hyphenated" Americans have not CLUE ONE about the great honor and privilege it is to be born in this most wonderful country.

They should take their lack of gratitude and shove where the sun don't shine.

Wasn’t the original “Plaintiff” pulled by her “lawyers” for being a poor witness?

The “wise latino” shouldn’t be a judge.

Suppose the KKK was a huge problem and the judge was a member of the “KKK Lawyers Association”. Suppose further that a politician wanted all KKK members to be prosecuted. Now suppose a case to which that politician is a party comes before the judge. The judge’s conflict is clear.

Judge Curiel is associated with a racist organization. That racist organization opposes Trump politically.

Judge Curiel’s conflict is clear. His impartiality may reasonably be questioned, he should recuse himself.

28 U.S. Code § 455 – Disqualification of justice, judge, or magistrate judge

(a) Any justice, judge, or magistrate judge of the United States shall disqualify himself in any proceeding in which his impartiality might reasonably be questioned.
(b) He shall also disqualify himself in the following circumstances:
(1) Where he has a personal bias or prejudice concerning a party, or personal knowledge of disputed evidentiary facts concerning the proceeding;
(2) Where in private practice he served as lawyer in the matter in controversy, or a lawyer with whom he previously practiced law served during such association as a lawyer concerning the matter, or the judge or such lawyer has been a material witness concerning it;

It’s OK to point out that most Hispanics despise Trump, but not OK for him to point out that a Judge who has made an unfavorable and probably unlawful decision against him is Hispanic?
