Something gnaws at the back of my mind over this.

The majority of Cab Drivers I used from 2002 to 2008 where all Muslim men. Somalians to be specific. I learned from various sources that the Medallions (cab license) were bought up by wealthy Muslims for huge $$ driving the prices up and making it impossible for a non corporate independent to buy one or even keep one.

Then they populated the Cab Driving population with Muslims who they rented the cab out too. They would rent it out to two, one for each 12 hour shift.

I can't out right draw a connection with this latest news about the big investment in Uber the Saudi's are making, but something smells fishy about this Uber/Lyft connection to Muslims.

Oh my, what are the mayors of these dem cities going to do?

On one hand their party is beholden to Saudi money, on the other hand they are beholden to $40,000 taxi badges...

What is a politician to do?

$40,000 taxi badges...

As late as 2012 NYC medallions cost $700,000 per individual and $1 million for corporations. I'm sure medallions in other cities are priced very high too.

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2012-06-29/new-york-city-june-average-taxi-medallion-sales-price-table-

Now enter Uber and lyft. No medallions required. Now you know why big cities have been restricting Uber and Lyft.

Wouldn't it be useful, if you were managing a vast cohort of sleeper cells, to have fleets of couriers who could go anywhere and be seen as ordinary and legitimate in their doings?

holy crap, I thought at 40k I was probably high

I live in Chicago, and I know they must be high as heck here

that’s crazy

I know our city is pushing to get Uber out they keep claiming they are un-trained and un-safe...

Really? Mohammed is some sort of trained professional?

I’ve never used Uber to be honest, I don’t use cabs either, but from what I’ve seen on articles and reports, the drivers are several pay grades above your typical Chicago cabby. So is the service.

There used to be donut shops all around Chicago called BOSA. Once it got out that they were funded by the Saudi’s (the name was said to mean Brothers of Saudi Arabia) they all disappeared.

My wife told me that they went to the malls and are now Caribou Coffee (could you get any more American sounding than that?).

I have no verification of this, but it is what she thinks.

So now, I won’t go to Caribou coffee either.

As far as I can tell, there is a company called JAB Holding out of Germany that is buying up all the coffee and coffee related businesses, including Caribou and Krispie Kreme, Pete’s, Keurig. They are apparently a family owned private company. Family is not Saudi, as far as I can tell. It is the Ramstein family.

Last I heard Caribou was owned by some Muslims out of Minnesota.

As far a Uber, I used them a couple months ago in Atlanta. Was a pleasant economical experience.
Have been thinking of becoming a driver for some extra money.
