Hope you enjoy. On A Carousel
The Hollies always had tight seamless harmonies. Their clear tenors were not overshadowed by the music. Good production. This is the group that Graham Nash comes from, he of Crosby, Stills & Nash. Nash is still out there performing.
And still as lefty as ever.
Allan Clarke sang lead on The Alan Parsons Project's "Breakdown" from "I, Robot", one of the very best songs.
“The Air that I Breathe” — Best. Hollies. Evar.
I think I had that 45. I remember playing it over and over and over again, while babysitting one night. I could not have it TOO loud, as the kids were asleep, but I played it probably dozens of times. Before collecting my $3 or $3.50 for the night’s work....
Always loved “Look Through Any Window” with its 12-string guitar - so unusual and distinctive sounding!
Fun fact...
Look Through Any Window was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. IIRC, another UK band recorded there, too...just can’t recall their name.
You mean that band Paul McCartney was in before he joined Wings?
Where are all the friends who used to talk to me? All they ever told me was good news.
Pink Floyd? It’s true.
Yep. But I like Bus Stop, too.
The writers of that song, successfully sued Radiohead for using the same chord progression in their song "Creep."
Yes. I seem to recall McCartney wrote silly love songs about being a senior citizen.
He did that duet with Michael Jackson, right?
LOL!
Earlier today, there was a SouthPark episode on in the background that was about Michael Jackson in purgatory and he was not allowing the others to go to their final destination.
Every other word MJ said was “That’s ignorant” - what a sleazy homo pedophile and no doubt he’s burning in hell.
I never got why McCartney ever hung out with MJ...unless he wanted his songs back from that satanic minion.
music *ping*
Great song! Thank you, simpson!
That’s my favorite Hollies opus—and considerably different from most of their songs.
A pair of 45's made me open my eyes
My temperature started to rise
She was a long cool woman in a black dress
