Plastic banknotes set to be unveiled this week stick together when new meaning that shoppers could find themselves accidentally handing over more than one note at once, it has emerged.

I have handled polymer bank notes and the feel horrible. They can give you a nasty paper cut too.

Maybe some of them, but we’ve been using polymer notes in Australia now for about twenty years and I’ve never had a paper cut, nor have I ever had a problem with them sticking together.

The newer bills here in the USA stick together when new. If a person is not careful they will hand over more than just one but as they become used they don’t stick together.

When handling Canadian money, I always make a point of rubbing the bills between my thumb and forefinger because they often stick together.

How stupid do they think people are? Like people do not have half a brain in their heads, to figure out how to hand over the proper amount of money. I am not sure these idiots could figure out when to come in out of the rain. 🙈🙊🙉

Let’s hope they don’t repeat Canada’s blunder with polymer banknotes.
The plastic bills would melt and fuse together if left in a hot car.

I wonder if the best bet would be to sprinkle the new notes with something like baby powder, that would be relatively invisible, but would inhibit adhesion?

Exactly. That is the experience I have had with the Canadian bills. They can adhere to each other so when handing over cash you make sure each note is a single by rubbing it between your fingers. The reason for the plastic notes is that they are more durable than paper notes and are harder to counterfeit.

Hold one up to Obama and he'd recoil like a vampire from a cross.
