Black students' lives don't matter to Sheriff Clarke, just their obedience

Not counting the folks at the Public Policy Forum – who, if I weren't an avowed atheist, I would say really and truly do the lord's work – no one ever reads municipal budgets to look for the good things.

Nope, if you're poring over a proposed budget, you're almost certainly doing it because you want to know how much of your tax dollars are being wasted on things you hate. This is doubly true if you host a right-wing talk radio program, since bad municipal budgets are great for ratings.

So when talk radio read the proposed 2016-17 Milwaukee Public Schools budget and saw the words "Black Lives Matter" on a budget line, it exploded.

Rather, "Black Lives Matter" was the name given to a proposed local program that would fulfill part of the promise of the "My Brother's Keeper" initiative, a national project spearheaded by President Barack Obama and that MPS has been working on for two years already, largely with grant money rather than tax dollars.

I wonder where the grant money comes from. Hmmm, it wouldn’t come from federal TAXES would it?

The half-million dollars in question, as was clearly indicated in other parts of the actual MPS budget proposal, was for three additional teachers, for planning time to develop some culturally responsive curriculum and to spread restorative practices into more MPS schools.

So what happens to these teachers when the grant runs out? Are they out (fired) or do they become permanent employees that get retirement benefits that impact the permanent budget? What are restorative practices and how do they achieve the bottom line of a public school education? All of these are questions that voters should be asking.

Is this Pillsbury Doughboy claiming to be a teacher in MPS? I don't buy his tripe for a minute.

I know many teachers in MPS. All of them complain of a total lack of respect by the bad actors whose life goals seem to be to disrupt classrooms, making it impossible to teach the kids who want to learn. They are untouchable and they know it. They bait teachers into fights while their fellow miscreants film the results in order to destroy the teachers' careers. When told to sit down & stop being disruptive they pound their chests and yell out "Gotti".

They are on the fast trains to prison and cocooned lives of perpetual government support. They simply don't care. their goals are be the fourth & fifth grade badasses; nothing more.

Classroom discipline in MPS is a huge problem. You need to pony up and buy a clue, Jay Jay . . .

At least half and probably 2/3rds of the ‘avowed’ atheists I’ve ever met were basically carrying on a temper tantrum toward being made to go to church and/or obey Christian parents and not get to run riot with all the oxygen wasting bas- I mean the ‘cool’ kids. They were at the emotional level of a toddler throwing a tantrum in the candy aisle.

A few have been genuinely hurt in a church split or by abusive parents.
