Arizona -(Ammoland.com)- Open carry is unrestricted at the NRA annual meeting in Louisville, Ky, this year. But with presidential candidate Donald Trump speaking at the Leadership Forum, the Secret Service set up a system to stop the entrance of people with guns and knives. Doug Ritter of Knife Rights realized that the carry of pocket knives is common with people across the United States, and that it is a major inconvenience to trudge a half mile back to a parked car to deposit a pocket knife after walking through a quarter mile line to hear the speakers.

**The procedure was simple. Hand a friendly boy scout your knife or knives. They would put them in a zip lock bag, with a ticket that you kept a stub from. If you wanted, you could take a picture of the knives in the bag as an alternate way of recovering them.**
Where do you get there were only 3,000?

Oh, my. I didn’t realize there was a “knife rights” organization. Are things that bad now?
I’ve carried a pocketknife since I was eleven. Yes, I carried it to school back then. I can’t imagine going somewhere without my trusty, handy knife.
Goodness! Boys AND girls carried them. [And I don’t recall anyone ever being stabbed]. Heh.
I usually have 2 knives on me....and other sure-fire protection. Often, I forget that I even have them.
Apparently, Knife Rights founder, Doug Ritter, is a great example of what one citizen can do to preserve our lives and liberties.
**While our knives are primarily tools, ultimately our right to own and carry these tools is enshrined in the Second Amendment. The fight to protect our knives is the Second Front in Defense of the Second Amendment. The two pillars upon which Knife Rights stands are “Essential Tools - Essential Rights.” We cannot retain the former without the latter.**
“Why do you carry two knives?” Because I have two hands ;)
I have a pocket knife, a small measuring tape (36in.) and a very small level (2in.) that I have carried for years. Encounter many surprised glances from clerks when this 84 year old lady takes out her measuring tape or level in Home Depot while contemplating a purchase. Attended a rally for G.W. Bush with those in my pocket and never gave it a second thought.
Thanks.
Makes ya wonder...
Essential tools at the ready! I love it.
LOL...you must be very wealthy...to afford a steak at DW ... I can’t even afford a soda drink there. :)
"Irony...surrendering your knife to the folks at the Knife Rights kiosk."
now I'm back on food stamps eating better steaks...*W*
Don’t forget: Lobster is on sale for the Memorial weekend. ;)
I think they suspended *open carry* for the convention, b/c the Donald was there. But I’m not sure.
So much for *Freedom’s Safest Place.*
Exactly.
And, I should’ve mentioned... That was a clever way to handle the knife issue. I know I would’ve had one in my pocket and would’ve been more comfortable handing it in to a kiosk like that instead of a stand with some TSA types collecting blades.
Whoever did that screening should be hired to solve the TSA problems. :)
Times are tough!...Obama times....
